Pretty sure that section of code hasn't changed in quite some time, nothing new there. It's equally in issue in almost any European country and would be the same for an American who spent more of the year than not in Canada vis a vis Canadian tax liability.

The simple solution for snowbirds, file US income tax. Pay US taxes on US earnings. It's not that complicated.

You are right for US citizens but not for non-immigration residents, only earned US income is taxed.

China doesn't accept dual citizenship. Mainland Chineze citizens are required to give back their chinese passport and ID upon getting a new citizenship (they don't all do so)

Here we go again, time to dump toronto property at the top and movie to buffalo. Great place to buy at the bottom, ride out toronto housing sell off. Ellicott is very nice during the winter, ski in/out chalet are cheap compared to collingwood.
