USA! USA! USA! Winning the coronavirus race

I'm not asking for any proof. Far from it. Mortality rates can affect decisions. I want to know how likely I am to recover from an infection.

For example, if the mortality rate for COVID is less than 1%, I will continue to go out only for essentials like food and take all social distancing precautions and wear an N95 mask - just as I have every single time I have left my house since the pandemic started.

But if the mortality rate is 25% - I'm not leaving the house and I'm going to eat the dogs and the cat. And then I'll start on the neighbors dogs and cats.

And the US has ten times the population of Canada so your stats aren't terribly remarkable.

South Korea is impressive, however.

Just sound like more denial and overthinking from another American on here concerning the virus. Many Americans aren't even following basic safety precautions yet they are still debating it or even worse denying the science still. Medical consensus is that if everyone wears non-medical masks in public where safe distances are not possible will greatly reduce infections. Period, that was confirmed months ago. If you want "proof", I can ask one very basic question. Why does Canada have much, much lower rates of infection then the US ? The disparity in the numbers is massive now, by a factor of 10-20 almost every day; some days the deaths are by a factor of 10 as well in your worst infected states.

Are Americans that much more fragile then Canadians ?

The proportion is nine times. I pro rated everything. The disparity the last month is actually quite remarkable. For example, the death toll yesterday in Canada was 12 people, the US 1001 people. That's 900 extra deaths in ONE DAY.

And the death toll in South Korea on July 15 was zero and on July 16 was two persons. So Canada is ten times better than the US and South Korea is ten times better than Canada.

No wait, Canada had 8,825 deaths and South Korea had 291 deaths.

Tthe death toll yesterday in Canada was 12 people

The masks that the South Koreans are wearing appear tighter fitting and cover much more of their facial area than the dust masks that I see in the US. Maybe it's fat American faces.

I am a big believer in wearing masks. Given my background working at Nuclear Power Stations and having to wear legit NIOSH approved dual cannister half and full face respirators at times I have real doubts about the efficacy of the dust masks and bandanas I see Americans wearing in public.

In Orange County SoCal, the mortality rate for the under 18 is zero. For the under 35, is 0.05% (3 out of 6,000) and we are asking them to self lockdown to stay in their tiny apartment, not working not going out when the weather is nice, the beach is beautiful and they don't have a job but receiving unemployment check of $1,000 a week?

Somehow it seems not very logical if I were 20 years old and live by myself with all my family back in the midwest.

And more denial. Wait, let me check, still 900 extra deaths in a day.
