US Marshals arresting people for not paying their federal student loans

wow 4 pages of a thread and finally starting to get some truth. So the OP gwb-trading created a tinfoil thread...a knee jerk wacko news story as if it was real.

Arnie finally came up with some real background to the story....

but I really don't care to see tinfoil splashed about on here...there is already sooo much truth lacking as it is

Let me ask again... why is a criminal court getting involved in what is strictly a civil affair. There should NEVER be a compulsion that you must show up for civil court. If you don't show up then the default judgement will go against you, and the financial institution can continue their collection proceedings based on the judgement.

Now we have created a system where all lending involves no risk to financial institutions because they can drag you into criminal court, eh? Got to love riskless lending. I guess banks can now toss away credit scores and risk profiles because they will just summon the criminal courts if you fail to repay a loan.

Dragging people into criminal court based on a debt collection civil matter is simply absurd and a perversion of the legal system. Where does it stop? How many people are we going to lock up for debt collection matters?

Keep in mind that according to the FTC report over 50% of the people being dragged into court do not even owe the debt. In your world we should also use criminal courts to compel these people to pay.

i think it costs 70k a year per prisoner

How bout, if you loan money to somebody who won't pay it back, we will put them in jail, but it will cost you 70k per year

If someone owes me money and they don't pay me I dont think they should have to go to prison. Although I should be allowed to smash their knee caps with a billy club. Its only fair. It will also save the tax payer 70k a year.

wow 4 pages of a thread and finally starting to get some truth.

Arnie finally came up with some real background to the story....then I found this one. Seems he made threats and claimed he had a gun when collection was attempted first by phone...phone threats, then much later gun threats inside the door when service was attempted

The story is completely bogus. Its called click bait and many fell for it.

Look at the video of the guys house too, his house is more modern than mine is, and supposedly he cant pay 1500 dollars? Give me a break, its pieces of shit like this guy who drive up the costs for all of the rest of us, this guy is not someone anyone should be feeling sorry for.

Check out the Malcom in the Middle sit com when the poor father needs money to send his kid to Harvard. He goes to the loan shark borrows 70k and says, "Just go ahead and break my leg now because there is no way I can pay you back."

yea the guy is a scumbag...the reason we hard this far on the thread is because he LIED at the beginning of the story, thus creating the big news about us marshals. His tax returns and w-2 shows he can pay but he just says fuck you to the loan..then as they prepare to collect, he threatens by phone, then threatens with gun behind the door as they post service.

Finally, he goes and lies about what happened to the newspapers to get attention (explains why only weird news sites picked up the first story). Fucking hard core scumbag. These types do indeed need their knees broken into fine pieces.
