Exactly. I think most Americans have no clue how hard it is to obtain a resident visa even as US educated and highly skilled employee, willing to contribute by paying taxes and working hard. In fact you fool most foreign students by giving them hope of a US placement yet disproportionately limit the number of available post education residence and work visa. At least then be honest and clarify that education is just a service after which the student is supposed to fuxx off.

But my main point is that the US makes it incredibly hard even for highly skilled talent from abroad such as Asia or Europe to come and work in the US due to visa restrictions. The US has not been open for decades so in fact nothing changed re immigration at all.

The United States has every right to determine who comes and who does not come to this country. The United States is a country and not a charity.

Second, if you wanted to come to the United States, why would you even bother coming in via the legal route? Why not just jump the border like all the other losers, then wave your native country's flag in protest and claim you are not being treated fairly? The democrats have a whole shitload of benefits for you, if you do that.

Nobody talked about charity so let's stick to facts. Fact is that some seem to pull all sorts of unrelated issues out of their arses but ensure gun control is not one of them.

Yes, most definitely, part of the solution is removing guns. Of course, that would require proper education of people or wait until future generations finally get the message. Special interest groups have a lot of you fooled on many social policies ( gun control, health care, "lefties" fear, ... ). We have some hope when we look at examples of smoking and seat belt usage. However, it is still incredible how many dumb ass Americans don't wear seat belts these days ( far more then in Canada ).

And I have to comment on the frequent comments people make on here about US borders. At what point did the US make some brazen change in immigration law that supposedly changed your situation ? Come on now, when did this happen, because as far as I know you haven't "opened your borders" to any degree in decades ( the opposite might be true ) ? Yet on a daily basis people talk about the "open borders". What exactly occurred and when that made this a thing ?

Oh goodness... The technology employed and work at the border is hardly a function whether a black or red head sits in the white house. The problem is inefficiency in execution. The US lost pretty much every war or armed conflict anywhere in the world over the past 30 years and yet it sports the most advanced weaponry. That does not tell you anything? Fact is you can't control your border whether Republicans or Democrats or independents are in power. Instead you continue to let in farmers, under qualified Indian H1B wannabes and instead make the life to a living hell to highly qualified and needed professionals from Asia and Europe wanting to make a life but also a contribution to the US economy

I'm pretty sure that 30 years ago it was easier for a Canadian to get a work visa in the US and it was definitely far easier to legally cross the border. How does that equate to "open borders" I keep hearing about on here ?

love the Canadian point system on immigration. A few points for family ties but priority of points are given to work/employment skills, education, language skills, ability to assimilate. Some special programs look to cover local market employment needs and give preference to those with those needed skill sets. Makes so much sense and seems to work quite well except for a few outlier cases where certain special programs (Quebec) have been abused by the inflow of Chinese.

if the president with a willng congress decided they wanted to control the southern border it would be a piece of cake. The current president has deported more but will not enforce even current border laws let alone a DMZ with orders shoot to kill. I'm for an open border, but that is a whole nuther subject. Before that can ever happen we need to enforce the current laws and control the border.

also, we never lost a single battle in viet nam and could have easily won if it weren't for political considerations. Problem with both Korea and Viet Nam was always China. And neither of those countries were worth a war with China which we also could have won at great cost.
