*This will rock a few boats but i think it’s time to rethink our relationship with Israel.
Israel still a true ally of the United States? When was the last time Israel sent troops to support an American effort? It’s been a while since Israel has actually supported the US in a substantial way. Our relationship has become we are the givers and they are the takers under Netanyahu.
Under Netanyahu Israel has become more of a political ally of the GOP. The GOP makes sure Israel gets hundreds of millions of dollars and the Israeli government backs republicans domestically.
Anyone who follows Israeli politics knows the entire Netanyahu coalition is built around the fact he can get the republicans to dump money into Israeli defenses and back Likud Middle East policy.
Support for israel is going down among democrats because there is only so much blatant partisanship they will accept in our foreign relations.
I’d also like to ask why we give any aid to any country that has government funded universal healthcare, when we don’t provide it here? We are basically paying for the Israeli’s healthcare system.
I don't buy the idea that an ally has to provide troops toward an thinly reasoned armed conflict. By that logic, 85% of countries aren't allies.
I'd wager Israeli lobbying efforts are a bigger reason to lose their "ally" status.
