I can and I did. The Capitol building is just another structure where business is done. It can be repaired just like any other place of business. If you want to be so calloused as to call someone's place of business stupid property, the place where they make their living, the thing that supports them and their families, then I can call the Capitol building just another piece of property, and those in it have no expectation of greater protection than any other U.S. Citizen. Defend everyone equally, or there is no real justice. If we the people are left to fend for ourselves, then so are they. They aren't "special". The job of the Capitol police is to defend those politicians. I have no problem with them doing that job. The job of the local and state police in a riot is to defend the general public. They aren't doing that job, mostly because those that think themselves special aren't allowing them to do the job. They, politicians, are in fact saying that the people of any community are expendable while they themselves should be protected at all cost. If you don't see that as a problem then we have no starting place for a rational discussion.

First, this thread is not about someone from Minneapolis. To compare the two in this thread is just a distraction on your part.
If you want to talk about the guy from Minneapolis...talk about him and the Minneapolis police woman that shot him in another thread considering there's already at least two threads about that topic.
Therefore, you have a comparison problem again although I'm unsure why you want to compare these tragedies when you initially compared the storming of the United States Capitol by insurrectionists (an angry mob) that erected a gallows outside...went inside and chanted Hang Mike Pence, went room to room search for congress members, had zip ties for the purpose to capture / kidnap / murder congress members that were there to confirm an Electoral College Vote for the U.S. Presidential Election results...
- You compared it to looters / rioters that enter an establishment...by the way an establishment that has insurance and no customers / owners not there.
On a final note...the most recent tragedy involving someone attacking the U.S. Capitol or attacking those protecting the U.S. Capitol...
A loud message has been recently sent. They will now shoot you dead and then ask questions later if you choose to attack the U.S. Capitol, attack those inside the Capitol or attack those protecting the Capitol.
In fact, you can compare the recent shooting of another attacker on the U.S. Capitol to this dumbass insurrectionist that got shot on January 6th.
Yet, I will not cater a further discussion with you on the behavior of people that threaten the foundation of the United States Democracy considering I'm from a 4 generation military family that proudly served our country and would never attack Democracy like a coward traitor as Ashli Babbitt did on January 6th with her mob.
She's dead and we will never know her intent had her and her mob made it through that door.

P.S. I was the first here at Elitetrader.com to write about the shooting of Ashli (a U.S. veteran) when she was an insurrectionist. Nobody cared then and shouldn't care now.

Here's the bottom line. I will not minimize the ongoing riots which are destroying communities in multiple cities, nor will I magnify the one off event that happened on January 6th. The "insurrection" is now used as a distraction in order to facilitate the fantasy that the mob violence in the cities is somehow to be considered a just cause and tolerated. There is no army of maga militants out there planning some grand overthrow of the government. There is an army of violent anarchists who are doing their level best to bring chaos and destruction to every urban center in the country. The "insurrection" was repelled in short order. Wasn't much of a threat to begin with and is of no threat now. Not so with the mob in the streets which have been occurring daily for over a year now.

I do not expect 2021 to be much different. Yet, the insurrection on January 6th 2021...those that lost their lives, injured or traumatized...their families will strongly disagree with you that it wasn't much of a threat.

Absolutely true. The few that suffered death or injury experienced the full measure of a violent mob. For them the threat was all too real. I might also add that the many thousands of people who are seeing their businesses and places of employment destroyed are also experiencing the full measure of the mob. The scores who have been killed, assaulted and injured are feeling it too.
I'm just trying to say that the ongoing mob violence in the cities is an actual problem, a very serious problem which is not being given due consideration as to the threat it is. People saying it's nothing but vandalism as if it's a bunch of 14 year olds drawing dick pics on a school building is what draws my ire.
Again, mob violence be it political left or right needs to be squashed and it's needs to happen like starting yesterday.
The guy who just watched his business burn isn't worried about climate change or labor law, and if enough of those businesses burn it will in fact have a societal change, and not for the better. It's already happening.
The things you listed are of concern long term. So is unchecked mob violence. So is a criminally corrupt Congress. So is a broken electoral system. So is an openly biased media. So is a failing educational system. So is corporate greed and corruption. Pick your poison and none of it is being addressed in a serious fashion. Lots of lip service from do nothing political hacks and talking heads. And the new gang in town is supposed to be our salvation? Jesus wept.

If blacks would have stormed The Capital like the Trump supporters did there would have been far more than one dead.Trump himself would given the kill them all order.
And many universities have their own police forces..... including universities whose grounds are smaller than the Capital's and have less people in the building(s).
What do universities have to do with this?
