tws paper error messagge "commodity segment does not exist"

Yes, the account IE.
Did have just the same issue as you. So its strange that you account not working.
I have test ES, YM and 6J so far and its working, like it use to be..
 
When I logged in om the paper account this morning. I did get the same error ("Commodity segment does not exist").
Then just before I wrote abowe, I tryed.. and it worked. Without restart or anything.

I use the latest IB gateway (but that shuldn´t matter)

I use the latest IB version as well. This morning it was an update and I hoped that was it, but no.

Logged in paper account again just moments ago to make sure, but no luck - still the same.

I guess I will have to keep waiting for my turn... :mad:

I am on IB Ireland and I just bought and sold 1 Dax Future contract in my paper trader.
However, I am not getting real-time data in my paper trader. I do have real-time data for my live accout.
Thus, I get a pop-up warning before placing an order.
I am still not getting forex quotes as mentioned further above.

1 - Go to "Account Management / Account Settings / Paper Trading Account / Share real-time market data subscriptions with paper trading account" and choose "Yes"

2 - About the pop-up warning, when it appears you have a choice to disable it. If not, go to "File / Global Configuration / Messages" and choose the warning messages you want and don't want.

I am pretty sure such a setting never existed when I set up my last paper trading account in 2013. It just automatically gave you what you had in your live account
I have now activated the sharing of live data. It took about two minutes for the switch to take effect.
Side effect: I now get forex data as well. However, that does not really make sense to me. Since forex data is basically free anyway, you should get it no matter what. Now, if you disable sharing live data from live account, you will get delayed data for all kind of things and NO forex data at all. They can't be serious. Let's see what other bugs pop up over time.

You are welcome.

When people open a new account, IB sets up the paper accounts by default.

Now, after moving accounts to IE, they didn't even bother to let customers know that they would have to set it up again.

In my case, they also messed up my trading permissions.

My advice for everyone is to re-check all settings in account management.
