The US is already socialist, the US military, in structure and near cradle to grave benefits. The funny business here is how the money is being distributed, 1000 bucks won't be much use for people who have been let go.. keep the jobs.
There was actually more than one "check, please!" stimulus package in the past. Both Bush and Obama admins used it. Can't say they worked all that well though. Nevertheless, it's better than nothing, especially if you're a waitress with 2 kids (now that both restaurants and schools are ordered mandatory shutdown).

Seen some production numbers from China recently, wasnt pretty for China over 3 months.
Don’t think we’d come close to doing what China pulled off. We can’t build 1400 bed temporary hospitals in a week, and doubt we’ll see states and cities being locked down.
