Trump Spells End of Republican Party And Beginning Of Long-Overdue Realignment

I agree, it does send a message if enough do it. But it also sends a powerful message if Trump wins.
puts the media in a bind. Are they finally going to get to usher in the Utopian age they learned about in college and support the first Woman President? Or do they like that new rush they are getting ushered in by Trump when suddenly ordinary people are interested in their usual boring one sided coverage? If Hillary wins they are doomed to 4 years of defending. If Trump wins they get 4 years of outlandish coverage which has nothing to do with reality. And nobody ever made any money selling reality.

Interesting point ET. If the media were motivated by the normal profit and loss calculations of other businesses, the answer would be obvious. We know they are not however, since they insist on dishing up the same tired liberal/democrat slant on everything, even as the viewership of their news and opinion shows dwindles year after year.

The major newspapers in particular are to the left of MSNBC and appear to see their role as far left advocacy. Now we have mega rich libs like Bezos buying them as hobbies, so the coverage will be even more slanted. You certainly will not see the WashPost run a critical article on "free" trade, since a good bit of amazon's business consists of selling dumped Chinese crap here. It helps to explain their particularly virulent case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

I wouldn't say "we deserve it". If everybody understood and still bent over, that would be different. The ones of us who "get it" are small in number. The powers against us are large.

Brother, we deserve it because we're stupid. We're old enough to know better, but choose to close our eyes and pretend we're in nursery school.

Yeah, some of us are. But ~50%+ of the population is dumb as a box of rocks, doesn't pay attention at all, and yet they have a vote. The president should be elected on some other basis than "who promises the most free candy".

I agree. Carson and Cruz's flat tax plan is far superior then Trump's (although Trump's is excellent) - everyone pays. Everyone has skin in the game. If the dummies vote for more free shit it comes out of their hides.

it's really just math
by definition
50% are smart
50%are dumb

same with income or net worth
50% are rich
50% are poor

it's a formula. Pick any two opposites and it will always fall that 50% are one way and 50% are the other.
