I'll be interested in seeing how thorough the security gets investigated. It is really difficult to believe some random lunatic gains access to a rooftop that close, having such a clear line of sight to the target, carrying a rifle and nobody spots him.
First, it would need to be someone who blends in well on the inside and outside...such as another
MAGA Republican.
Next, the assassination occurs in an area where the Secret Service does not have the resources to protect a former U.S. President...open field in a rural community hub...
sniper heaven.
I would have told security to listen to the propaganda coming out of the area involving political idealogy even from within your party. Simply, do not focus only on the other party because there are crazies within your party too.
So far today, I only see one media (Fox news) putting people on assessing that those responsible were "the left" because they're still too blind to see that another Republican would try to take out Trump...
In prior modern day assassinations, the media played a huge role in promotion of political anger just prior to the murders of a political leader since the 1960s...
Today, it's amplified with the help of the internet (social media)...the right (conservatives)...the left (liberals).
Reminder...in the city of JFK assassination...there was posters all over the place in that city...wanted Dead or Alive in the days before he was murdered by Oswald.
Pandemic --> January 6th, 2021 (insurrection on the Capitol of the U.S.) --> Assassination attempt of Trump. It's just the beginning of the chaos I've been saying as the reason why I do not want to be in the States this fall.
By the way, the media is setting the stage for
another possible assassination attempt on Trump or even one on Biden. They then pretend they're not promoting divisiveness by pointing the finger at the other guy.
Trump is the luckiest man at the moment because the shooter did not use a high-power long-range rifle or any typical long-range shooting weapon that would literally blow off your head even at 500 - 900 yards away.
Just as amazing, it was civilians on the ground who spotted the shooter BEFORE the Secret Service saw him and BEFORE the assassination attempt. That in itself tells me there was a security breakdown with local law enforcement and the Secret Service.
Just as bad, I understand the slowness of the Secret Service to get Trump out of there but I was once told that Secret Service protecting their client typically would be taller than the client so minimize the chance of a
"head shot" when moving the political client from point A to point B. I saw two Secret Service people (women) who were shorter than Trump...two more (women and men) at the motorcade that was shorter than Trump.
The other question is how the shooter gained access to a building that was already cornered off, with nobody scheduled to work that day at the building location...it's almost as if the shooter was camping out inside in secret and just waiting for a few days until the target showed up like a good military sniper would be trained to do.
In my opinion, that shooter was there
waiting for a few days and the Secret Service dropped the ball and relied too much on their ability to "react" instead of being "preventative". Yet, why was there no law enforcement (local police) at the only logical location of high ground for a shooter ???
Another issue...there could have been a 2nd shooter and the Secret Service failed to prevent Trump from standing straight up to wave his fist to the crowd in defiance to show he survived. If there had been a 2nd shooter when the 1st shooter would be a decoy...that 2nd shooter would have had an easy "headshot".
Regardless, I do know that a sitting U.S. President has much more Secret Service and local law enforcement protection than a former U.S. President...it has always been that way. Simply, put President Biden in that situation...Secret Service snipers would have also been on the rooftop of that building and local law enforcement would have walked the perimeter of that building the shooter was located.
Reminder, a lot of local law enforcement all over America (e.g. urban, suburban, rural) are short-staffed because they still have not recovered from the
Pandemic...not enough police officers. It could have been as simple as that and will continue to be like that going into the RNC and the DNC.
Speaking of the DNC, I was recently in Chicago for a family vacation and to attend a few events like the 2nd NASCAR race in Chicago. Walking around Millennium Park. I saw local law enforcement everywhere...at many different street corners. In many corners, there were 5 - 8 police officers drinking coffee, eating donuts/sandwiches or donuts...just hanging out.
That was a car race. Now, if there were going to be fewer police officers during the DNC in comparison to a NASCAR car race...it would be another security fiasco.
