I love how left blames the voters for out govt and its crappy decsions. We hear that in California a lot.

its not bush's fault or Obama's or Hillary's or Bills or the establishment congress or the Fed..
its the voters. For instance its our fault they repealed glass steagall?

Well sir there is no kernel of wisdom in those droppings.

We have been trying to elect politicians who promise to undue the damage the leftists have done since Reagan. And the only time it worked was with Gingrich for a few years. Soon the banker and establishment money corrupts the people we voted in to make the changes.

Just look at how we were screwed on Obamacare and immigration by the current R congress.
Just look at how the democrats screwed the country out of single payer when the passed obamacare without a single republican vote.

Look at how McConnell and Boehner teamed up with pelosi reid and Obama to do the opposite of what the people desired and voted for.

Yes, extremely enlightening. He eventually evolves to a kind of monarchy that derives its power from the people, and therefore if something goes wrong it's the peoples fault, which is beautifully applicable to our present day.. and suggests to me that education is supremely important.

Anyone who reads those two guys, Hobbes and Locke, will come to the realization that there is nothing new under the sun.

but getting back to Trump, a dream act advocate asked to meet with Trump and he agreed and listened to her group. She said he was very gracious and seemed to understand the problem and gave her hope. My guess is soon he wll say, "Of course we want to get rid of the criminals, but nobody is talking about deporting kids who have lived all their life here and are as American as apple pie."

As I pointed out in an earlier post, the reality is that they are not going to deport the illegal immigrants and their children. It is a logistical and economic fiasco. The most viable policy is to enhance the border protection, make illegals apply for work permits, deport the criminals, demand employer e-verify, and demand tax compliance.

When the rubber hits the road - the above is what Trump's proposed policy will effectively result in.

I agree, that is a pragmatic approach. The silly thing is the Mexican border. Down there in Laredo they come across sometimes 50 or 75 at a time. All wearing their USA disguise, a t shirt and a baseball cap. Many of them with Yankees or Cubs logos and a gallon jug of water. They pop up, run across the median and slip back into the drainage ditch. All in broad daylight in a country that is negotiating nuclear arms with Iran, and we can't even carry out a decent inspection of Laredo.

This is a major reason Trump resonates with voters. We're hoping he'll not be yet another lying, back-stabbing politician. (Then again... remember what Odumbo promised... and what he's actually done. And then there are the "Tea Party" supported Republicans who made promises yet folded like a cheap suit once they got elected. Makes us feel like we've been FUCKED by a cheating shell-game promoter.)

Just for accuracy's sake I think that evolving I attributed to Hobbes was actually Locke, who was heavily influenced by Hobbes. It's been years since I read either Hobbes or Locke so I hope you'll forgive me if I get the two confused sometimes. they together laid the foundations for modern Liberal thinking. Hobbes of course was obedient to the monarchy. (What else could you be at that time if you wanted to keep your head.)

Coincidentally, I was reading on Hobbes last night. Maybe not the best choice I've made in the past, quoting him to defend government. He was not advocating an elected, strong central government, he was a monarchist and was advocating total control by the monarch. He expected the king to represent the masses in his private conversations with God, but by no means were the masses to have any real political power and upset royal privilege.
(I'm not done reading him, I may have this first impression wrong.)

Just a warning that I may have got Hobbes and Locke a bit muddled up, as it has been years since I studied them. And naturally it was Hobbes who influenced Locke, as Hobbes was an old man when Locke was a young man.

It is curious to me that both had their thoughts somewhat muddled by religion, Locke more so than Hobbes. I think Hobbes today would be an atheist, and if I recall correctly, he was even accused of such in his lifetime. I'm not sure the meaning was quite the same in those days. Anyway, it was a time when any prominent person who strayed too far from conventional religious practice and beliefs would be putting their freedom, and perhaps even their life, in jeopardy. We still have many today whose thinking gets all muddled up by religion. Will we ever be free of it? Not certainly in my generation. At least the cutting of tongues, drowning, and burning at stakes has largely abated within the Christian sects.
