Trump is bringing his message directly to the American people and Democrats are having a fit

Trump is moving toward an emergency declaration. He has to be. The shut down is untenable and he just doesn’t have political capital to get dems to fund a wall - it’s just not happening.

If he makes the case for an emergency two years into his presidency based on the fact he can’t get either a Republican or Democrat congress to fund it then that is not meritorious. No matter how you argue this, the will of the people via congress is undoubtedly no wall.

I think his strongest argument would be what he began his Oval Office address with, that the system is overburdened and the executive branch lacks the funding to process entrants in a safe and timely manner. He can then argue an emergency declaration would enable resources the executive branch lacks to fund not security, but humanitarian relief. Still no wall but more severe border security without congressional oversight and increased processing.

IMO, if he tries to build a wall with an emergency declaration it will fail in the courts.

Heh, you overestimate the government employees. They are liberals which means that they will turn on Pelosi and Schumer in a nano-second the first week they need to without a check for real. Survival skills among government employees. are rather limited.

I dont know if it is either/or on the national emergency thing. He could declare a national emergency to keep things moving and proceed that way until the courts mess with him, but I am not sure that means he caves on the government shut down. That could or could not still be going on. In other words, get the dems to cave while it is before the courts. Don't know yet. Neither does Trump.

They face an existential crisis. Backstab Trump and their futures and the future of the republican party are over. Go along with Trump and they may well go down with him. Or they may ride to victory with him.

Trump may prefer to be defeated by caving republicans rather than by caving himself. Gives him a better posture with his base and a better excuse out on the campaign trail.

We are basically headed toward a continuation of our open border policy regardless of what happens. Trump can put duct tape and bondo on it here and there but there is no will in the country to stop the never-ending invasion.

There is no will among the political class. Voters however have a vastly different opinion.

The dark cloud for establishment cuck republicans is that Trump may well go for an emergency declaration if they screw him. And if he goes that route, he is not letting some district court judge in Hawaii stop him. He can close the border entirely and put the military there while effective barriers are erected.

The political class knows it can do certain things because there is not enough will among the voters to do anything about it.

Sometimes that blows up on them eventually. Often it doesn't. Trump's election was an example of a big blow-up but I dont know where we are now.

Long term there is nothing but illegals as far as the eye can see. In Europe as well. Doing something serious about it might help but wont stop it. Not doing anything about it certainly does nothing to help.

Here’s my advice, if the Republican base is so heart set on a wall and major immigration reform you all are going to have start taking making major concessions on social programs and taxation seriously.

This country is in decline because of two reasons 1. The wealthy are taking too much of the working people’s productivity, in other words money. That’s the wealth gap and 2. The younger generations cannot affoothings like home ownership and having children.

Because of one and two, this country needs to import workers to buttress our failing safety net and overstretched workforce.

Not trying to start a fight. Just some advise.
