Trumps message caused him to lose by 3 million votes in 2016.
Trumps messaging and governing caused him to lose by 8.7 million votes in 2018.

Trump was.... not great. Nancy looked like she had an embolism. Only Schumer managed to croak out a coherent message. I was a little shocked at Trump, I expected something Reagan-like.
