Can't argue with ya there Tony.Well its Trump who made The NFL his top priority so blame him for it currently being the top political topic.
AAA said there were penalties for not standing, there are no penalties for not standing. There are only penalties for failure to be on the field.
you tony are obviously so partisan you are not able to think clearly.
does the operations manual contain a rule addressing this subject or not?
does the rule use the word "should"
it does....
the question is how shall that "should" be interpreted.
Now do you actually think the NFL is the sole arbiter of what that provision means?
You don't think the players association and the many judge in many different courts might have an opinion on that subject too?
I accurately stated the world should is susceptible to more than one interpretation.
Only a dnc bubbled troll would then argue with me for no apparent reason.
The NFL Operations Manual, an internal league document, specifically requires that teams stand respectfully for the National Anthem. Various potential penalties are listed for violations, including loss of draft picks. That's how serious it was considered to be.
For some reason Goodell is looking the other way. He was certainly on the job when the league threatened a player who wanted to wear 9/11 commemorative cleats. Ditto when a player wanted to wear purple cleats for some domestic violence awareness campaign. Not allowed. Disrespecting the flag is ok though.
you just quoted AAA as saying "failure to be on the field.: Almost as if AAA had read the operations manual.

here it is...
The NFL operations manual... per Time.
Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.
wow...you could not be more dishonest.
as I am posting now... you left out the most germane part of the rule.
During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking.
So did the Steelers get fined? They "should" stand, but they "must" be on the field. If they don't stand during the anthem, there are no penalties. If they are not on the field during the anthem, there are penalties.
