Trump Controls His Own Destiny

Trump is playing to his key law & order demographics. I don't think he really cares what BLM supporters think.

Isn't he courting black voters though? I don't know the approval stats of stop and frisk overall but I know its very unpopular in the black community.De Blasio got 90% of the black vote in NY largely because he opposed stop and frisk.

Where are you getting those numbers?

There also seems to be a softening on the public’s position on the practice of stop and frisk, itself. Asked if the NYPD’s controversial program is excessive and innocent people are being harassed, or if it is an acceptable way to keep the streets safe, 48 percent said excessive and 45 percent said acceptable.

Back on Sept. 19, 55 percent said it was excessive and 39 percent said it was acceptable.

New York City voters disapprove of the police tactic known as stop and frisk 51 - 43 percent. There is no gender gap. White voters approve 59 - 35 percent. Disapproval is 72 - 24 percent among black voters and 58 - 36 percent among Hispanic voters.

Directly from the article.... "Asked which was more important, keeping crime rates down or reforming stop and frisk, 62 percent said keeping crime rates low and 30 percent said reforming stop and frisk."

You fail to recognize the context of the article. A bunch of activists in NYC made a case that "stop and frisk" was excessive. Police stopped doing it and then crime rates immediately soared and after this New Yorkers demanded that stop and frisk be used again

This is all reflected in the title of the article -
Shock Poll: NYC Voters Want Low Crime Over Stop-And-Frisk Reform 2 To 1
Public's Position On Controversial NYPD Policy Softens Considerably In Month

Across the U.S. (outside of NYC) the support for "stop and frisk" (which is actually not used in most communities) is much higher. The policy has majority support across the U.S. population.

I can only state again that I don't really think Trump is courting black voters.

And yes, I can agree that stop & frisk is unpopular in urban black communities.

But asked directly voters disapprove of the method.

Of course if you asked people if they want crime to rise they will say no.This is similar to NSA spying.Ask people if they want the government to stop spying on them they say yes.Ask them if they want more terror attacks they say no.

How do the courts rule on it ? What's their opinion.

When I last read about it it was still in the courts. One Federal judge ruled it unconstitutional but another court overruled him.I haven't been following it but I don't think it made it to The Supreme Court.

These are the headlines that will guarantee that Trump gets elected in November...

Charlotte police shooting: Protests turn ugly again
http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/21/us/charlotte-police-shooting/index.html

For a second night, protests over deadly officer-involved shooting turn violent. 1 killed.

In the 80's and 90's I would agree. With todays demographics I'm not so sure. This should be interesting.Trump has taken sides with the police and Hilary has criticized them.In November we will know the answer.

Over 60% of Americans support stop and frisk.

Even 62% of New Yorkers say keeping crime rate low is more important than altering stop and frisk
.

Over 80% of people who support police support stop and frisk.

Over 90% of cops support stop and frisk.

Trump is playing to his key law & order demographics. I don't think he really cares what BLM supporters think.

Oh the irony of it all.
So the cops can profile a street hood, who's biggest offense will probably be some drugs or he's packing a strap... or worse yet, selling some Lucy's....

.....but when Achmed and Abdul make 4 trips to Afghanistan to hang with the Jihadists at the University of Bombmaking... we can't do it because its profiling.

That makes sense.
