Trump Cites Progress in Keeping Carrier Air Conditioning Plant in Indiana

He'll get it done. And it is going to make him shine.
UTX is one of the biggest govt. contractors there is. Best to keep Trumpy happy.
One more little known fact that I dug up on this deal... The CEO of United Technologies is a graduate of Purdue.
Last time I checked that was in Indiana.

Following up on a campaign promise that appealed directly to his Rust Belt base, President-elect Donald J. Trump said Thursday that he had reached out to the Carrier air conditioner company in Indiana to ask it not to move more than 2,000 factory jobs from Indiana to Mexico.

In a post on Twitter Thursday morning, Mr. Trump said: “I am working hard, even on Thanksgiving, trying to get Carrier A.C. Company to stay in the U.S. (Indiana). MAKING PROGRESS - Will know soon!”

During both the primary and general election campaigns, Mr. Trump frequently cited the February decision by Carrier and its corporate parent, United Technologies, to close two Indiana factories and move production to Mexico as an example of how Nafta and other free-trade agreements had failed American workers.

In a recent New York Times article, workers at one plant in Indianapolis warned that they would withdraw their support for Mr. Trump if he did not keep his promise to bring back overseas jobs.

The two plants — a Carrier factory employing more than 1,400 workers in Indianapolis and a United Technologies plant with 700 employees in Huntington — are profitable, but pay workers $15 to $26 an hour — about what the company’s workers in Monterrey, Mexico, earn in a day.

This is what WINNING looks like.

Americans forgot what it's like to win.

That's on purpose. The globalists want us trained to accept and become accustomed to losing and giving up.

Now we will all remember what its like to Win again. And we will all cast off the globalist scumbags because of it :)

Because that's what a high-tech high pay economy needs, low-tech industries. Next he's going to bring back T-shirt manufacturing, that'll definitely save the US economy.

United Technologies is a "low tech industry"?

Ya, cause China doesn't make iPhones, computers, every electronic under the sun, cars, satellites, rockets, fighter jets....they just copied the J35!!!!!! All those "low tech" industries.....

And all those "low tech" industries get automated, which propels a growth economy in AI > Computers > hardware > support.

How do you suppose an economy grows? When a new tech makes an old tech obsolete? Are jobs lost? Are are they really net gained?!?!?!?!??! Over the years, do we seem to get more productive with technology or lesss!?!!?!?!?!

I think Trump knows, being the showman that he his....This would be a HUGE coup psychologically for Trump to win over more hearts in America. If he can pull this off.... its once again genius on his part.

What can the media say then lol?! I'm sure they'll think of something. They'll show homeless starving children and their parents living in squalor in the half built plant in Monterrey MX. :D:D:D

My old Oshkosh sweatshirt is getting a little worn, after shopping around I see they just don't make them anymore and nobody else makes one the same quality. A sweat shirt of the old quality can last me ten years or more and I will pay anything if I find another one of the same quality. I shop amazon a lot and if I read the reviews and questions, more and more a common question is Where is it made? If the answer is China the questions often stop. I hear ya, nobody looks at their teenage child in school and hopes they end up in a tea shirt factory. But Americans are saturated with cheap imported goods. The price now is meaningless. Made in America is now a fashion statement.

Air-conditioners are cutting edge now?

Your first paragraph doesn't make any sense and is completely unrelated. I gladly use my Chinese made and designed phone, the days when they just copied everything is passing. You think anyone would pay $2k for an iPhone if it was made in US?
A few nutjobs excluded.
You think an economy just produces the same crap as decades change? What sort of thinking is that? I hope we get even more productive, so the T-shirt factory will have 3 workers instead of 300...there's your "jobs".

They actually do, you just have to look around. If you just buy the cheapest shirt then of course it won't last. Then again European manufacturers have higher requirements when making stuff in China.
Fashion statements work to an extent only, the poorest (low + lower middle) won't keep buying pricey "made in America" shirts when the trend dies.

Pretty funny that on a trading related forum everyone is full of patriotism and economic irrationality.
