Trump Calls Grieving Widow of Soldier Killed in Niger: ‘He Knew What He Signed Up For’

Until there is some actual evidence of the conversation to put this is context AND a much more credible witness than the head case from congress, this is nothing but leftist spin. So the mother was crying. Of course she was crying. What mother wouldn't be crying during a conversation with the president and he expresses the sympathy and gratitude of a nation? Did he say, your son knew the risk going in, and being one of those rare men he pushed forward anyway. That is completely different than saying hey, sorry the kid got zapped, but he knew the risks. Now what? We need a tape of every conversation the man has or the left will just take things out of context and run their political bias as usual?
I'm no great fan of Trump and wouldn't be all that surprised if he botched the phone call, but right now this falls squarely into the category of the asshole left digging for something, anything to push the hate Trump agenda.

If her didn't call, he is uncaring. If he does, some POS race hustler tries, successfully it must be noted, to turn it into a big scandal.

A normal person would be honored that the president called them and would construe his words in the spirit in which they were intended. Not this crowd however.

Not to mention the hucksters down at CNN had just spent an entire day shitting on Trump for politicising the issue but they gave Frederica Wilson all the time she wanted to do exactly that and that narrative never even came up once.

You really are a shameless sometimes Jem. :) Fucking lawyer(ish..), I guess it is ingrained.

You know perfectly well that McCain had discussed that many times. It was broadcast, people heard it. It was the years of captivity after that earned him a reputation.

McCain's 1999 book "Faith of My Fathers," co-written with Mark Salter, detailed the emotional toll after his captors finally broke him.

"The next morning, they brought me back to the theater and ordered me to record my confession on tape. I refused, and was beaten until I consented," McCain wrote. "I was returned to my cell and left alone for the next two weeks.

"They were the worst two weeks of my life. I couldn’t rationalize away my confession. I was ashamed. I felt faithless, and couldn’t control my despair. I shook, as if my disgrace were a fever. I kept imagining that they would release my confession to embarrass my father. All my pride was lost, and I doubted I would ever stand up to any man again. Nothing could save me. No one would ever look upon me again with anything but pity or contempt."

McCain further recalled in the book that, "One night I either heard or dreamed I heard myself confessing over the loudspeakers, thanking the Vietnamese for receiving medical treatment I did not deserve."

There isn't any recording. As usual the White House has to cover for him. Sad.

White House walks back Trump claim that Dem fabricated remarks to widow — now says he was ‘misunderstood’

President Donald Trump on Wednesday morning accused Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL) of “totally fabricating” her account of the president’s remarks to Myeshia Johnson, the widow of the late Army Sgt. David Johnson.

However, an anonymous White House official tells The Sentinel that Trump was simply “misunderstood” when he told Johnson that her late husband “knew what he signed up for” when he joined the Army.

“This president cares deeply,” the official explains. “Maybe he said something that was misunderstood, but he certainly cares about fallen servicemen and women.”

The admission that Trump may have said something that was misinterpreted by Johnson’s family is a contradiction of Trump’s insistence on early Wednesday that he had “proof” that Rep. Wilson was lying about the entire exchange.

“Democrat Congresswoman totally fabricated what I said to the wife of a soldier who died in action (and I have proof),” Trump originally wrote on Twitter. “Sad!”

Why do you require Trump to have proof, but totally believe an "anonymous" source that probably wasn't even in the room when the call was made?

McCain retired from the Navy on April 1, 1981,[71] as a captain.[33] He was designated as disabled and awarded a disability pension.[72] Upon leaving the military, he moved to Arizona. His numerous military decorations and awards include the Silver Star Medal, two Legion of Merits, Distinguished Flying Cross, three Bronze Star Medals, two Purple Heart Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and Prisoner of War Medal.[33]

What? no neatness medal?
