Trend Following-Trend Commandments

In my experience, Trends are really the only thing one can rely on in trading. The closest thing to a Truth we've got.
This isn't some triple squiggly line with polka dots Indicator (that works only 1/2 the time) we're talking about here.
Trends are the foundation stone of Technical Analysis.
The Golden Plates, The Tablets, of the our TA Religion!

Surf, you shouldn't mess with that man.
Are you the Devil?

Pleased to meet you, hope you guessed my name--cause fooling you is the nature of their game.....

Yes, trend is the base of TA. Trend does not exist therefore TA is based on a lie. Burn the books and break free to profits, my brother.

What is your trading ROE YTD?

Quote from Brass:

What is your trading ROE YTD?

I don't directly manage OPM and don't talk about personal overall performance. See the surf report for trade results since 2002.

A fund we are invested in is up 35% so far, another is down 12% and another is slightly down on the year. I thought they all had strong edge, but I was only right 1 out of 3 so far....

If you don't look for an edge in Trends, where do you look? Fundamentals? Value? Recovery?

Yes, but I'm more interested in the cumulative return on trades you identified in your latest journal thread. In this way, we can compare your approach, which totally ignores the concept of trends, against those whose approaches are more inclusive. I wouldn't ask you this question if you didn't post a journal. But since you do, it presents an excellent opportunity to illustrate the benefits of your approach as compared to more conventional approaches that presuppose the existence of trends and the expoitation of them.

And so I ask again. Your journal thread: ROE YTD?

this is such a B*S* post

Trend following is simply common sense. If a stock or market is going to move one way..wait for it to move then jump in and go for the ride. What's SO hard to get about that?

How is "day traders" are so against end of day trend following yet they are simply trend follwoing on an inrtra day basis?

Trends are illusions designed to trick the public into losing their money. I look at what drives price-- things like COT, money flows and structural inefficiencies in markets. Surf
