Transferred USDT to Coinbase and it's now lost!

Sounds like robbery by design. Any click you make on an app should have appropriate validations to prevent loss of funds.

That’s the first thing they should have worked on.

LossOfFunds(c) is the Crypto business model

Man that sucks. As if the chance of losing a large portion of your money buying an overhyped, overpriced pos isn't enough, now you find out you can lose everything just transferring it.

actually the op should be glad to be rid of it, and go on with a normal life .

When you send crypto to a network address only someone who holds the private key for that address can then access the crypto. If you sent to an address on a particular network for which no one holds the private key then the funds are gone forever.

For transfers you have never done before you should ALWAYS send a test transaction with a minimal amount of crypto. If funds arrive ok then send the rest.
Very true. I believe it's safe to say it's gone forever.

since coinbase rejected/refused the xfer, it should have been kicked back to the sender, kucoin.

if thats not how it works, then crypto is even more fuked up than i'd imagined
It's not the case unfortunately. This is what Kucoin gave me today:
I truly apologize for the inconvenience you have endured. I would love to help you. However, as explained previously, this withdrawal has been completed and the coins are no longer at our end. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do regarding this withdrawal. You may wait for the recipient platform to support Arbitrum network and then contact them for further assistance.

Yeah I think Coinbase only accept USDT on the ERC20 network. You should have had a choice of networks to send it from or known the network you were holding it on at the time in the wallet you were using. Sorry to hear about the loss.
