Trading while trying to lose weight on Atkins

"proof"? odd request coming from someone who is so willing to eschew established nutritional FACT for the unsubstantiated fancy of a business man/diet guru, just another in a long line of losers with nothing but hot air to back their claims. SUCKER! LOL.

you wouldn't know PROOF if it jumped up and bit your little weenie. heh.
Don't you read? What's not substantiated is the claims of the nutritionalist that an Atkins styled plan is bad for you.

...As a follow up...I dropped 10lbs in less then 5 days....but as i said, i work out all the time and play basketball at a high level...but definitely when i cut back on the carbs i get a nice cut....carbs= calories...thats all....so by lowering the calorie intake but burning a high level of calories from working out and playing hoops, you lose weight quickly

dude, it's good if you've made progress, but 10lb in less than 5 days! ha!!

first of all, when most people start to lose weight, they immediately lose WATER WEIGHT. water is part of your lean body mass. your lean body mass is everything but fat, so it includes water. you don't want your lean body weight to drop. i can tell you right now, i HIGHLY doubt you lost 10lb of fat in less than 5 days!!!!

1 pound of fat = 3500 calories.

10 pounds of fat = 35000 calories.

to lose 10 pounds of fat in 5 days, you'd need to have an average defecit of 7000 calories per day.

let's say you ate NOTHING each of the 5 days. you would still need to run ~56 miles each of the 5 days to achieve these results.

YOU DON'T ADD UP, DUDE!!

OK, I get up every morning and hit the treadmill , then lift weights.....my bench is up to 275.....at night , i play hoops in the florida heat against the young punks and on saturday mornings i play at a local park for 2 hours.....i started lowering carbs to under 25 grams a day and actually lost the weigh in less then a week.....why? with the activity i have and the work outs i do, it forces your body to burn.....is there some water weight involved? of course, but if you are use to using 3500 calories a day, but reduce it to 2000 and work out like i do it comes off fast...think what you like but its the truth and as i said earlier, i only use it to get a nice cut...how old are you? when i was younger i would drop 20 lbs as soon as football season started.....you think dropping 10lbs in a week is hard for an athlete???

the numbers don't lie, man.

i'm not saying you made no progress. i'm just questioning if you really lost 10 lb of fat in less than 5 days. i don't care how good you eat or how much exercise you do. if anything this is probably what happened to you:

weighed yourself after drinking a lot and eating a lot. so your weight was at its high range. then you did a lot of exercise/went on your diet. you probably lost a lot of water (i'm talking pounds) maybe a little muscle, and probably SOME fat. then you probably stepped on the scale in the morning after not eating much and went to the bathroom, so you get a reading of your weight at its low range.

i'm telling you right now, you did not lose 10 lb of fat in less than 5 days! when i want to lose fat, i'll run 2x a day (7 miles total), i'll lift weights, and i'll eat right which includes an intake defecit. after all this, i still don't lose 10 lb of fat in less than 5 days. i would say someone that puts in a lot of effort could lose 2-3 pounds of fat a week if they work hard.

by the way...you said:

this will give you a defecit of 1500 calories a day. 5 days of this gives you a defecit of 7500 calories. you would still need to do 27500 calories worth of exercise in 5 days. get real!

let's take this a step at a time.....if i reduce my calories by 2k and increase my physical regime ......you don;t think that im burning a much higher rate? remember: after you work out you continue to burn calories for up to three hours.....if you are not replacing the calories you will burn at a much higher rate an will continue to burn through out the day...in addition, because im working out harder and im pumped, by avoiding SUGAR you are depriving your body of the thing it raly wants ( quick energy)...so it forces a faster ketosis and puts your body into a total fat burning stage where night and day im burning...what don;t you understand? I see your knowledge of Atkins is right up there with your knowledge of trading...and your telling me to get real?

again, I don;t believe it was a total of 10lbs of fat...but a good majority of it was ...why? because it has stayed off...if it was water, it would come right back on....

You any good? I miss playing outdoors. Grew up on the east coast and could find an outdoor game within walking distance from my house on 4-5 different courts. Nothing like that in Oregon. We don't even have courts with lights in my town, much less many decent outdoor courts.

If you're used to playing hoops in the sweltering heat, water loss is already accounted for. You drink it all back right away, anyway.

Im excellent....I can still dunk, still score pretty consistently..but i will admit that the burst is not what it use to be....i use to be able to always get that first step and take it to the rack...i find myself often making the burts to the right and then doing a crosover back to my left and puling up for the J....the reason is that i cannot blow past the young guys like i use to...some days though, its all there ...other times i pick my spots..we play at 8:00 in the morning on saturdays because its already 85....by 10:00 am it's close to 90....at nights it's worse though becuase the pavement has been heated all day so the surface is about 110!!!...
