Trading the Pivots

Quote from JimmyJam:

The early Gappage doesn't surprise me overmuch. Will pretty much be looking to fade it at the first opportunity.

I won't be taking it, but the System is clearly setting up for a Buy Signal

P.S. Anticipate movement to 1304 (or higher) before the downturm resumes (which may or maynot happen in a timely fashion during the day's session)

Thanks a lot longtex.

I thought that formula might exist, but I've never been able to figure it out. It's definitely someting on the wish list though.

De nada, cowboy.

Glad to help.

Here's another one...

Assuming col C contains the weekday and col D contains the date, and at least the first row (in your xls, row 23) has a date entered, enter the following formulas for C24 and D24, then copy those two cells down for the next 27, 29, or 30 rows depending on days in month:

D24: =D23 + if(weekday(d23)=6,3,1)
C24: = text(D24,"DDDD")

That's for M$ Excel - if you're using OpenOffice spreadsheet, the first formula uses ; instead of, and the second is radically different (at least on my version of OO):
choose(weekday(d24);"Sunday";"Monday";... etc)

Let me know if there's anything else I can help with, and if I see something, I'll let you know.

Later...

Don't tell me, this is how I can build and populate arrays ... now how did you know I need to build arrays with my data, hmmm? :D

Looks like I got my homework cut out for me this weekend.

Best, JJ

Just an observation:

at 11:40a

$spx= +.12
$indu= -.02%
$ndx= -.10%

Here's the way I use this:

If you want to short...short the YM or NQ

If you want to go long....buy ES

If you must trade, but aren't sure of the direction:

Short 1 nq and buy 1 es for a spread or short 1 ym and buy 1 es

Note: CAT is in the $indu

Reversal

While I expected (was hoping for) an upswing from the Pivot, it never came.

Price Action never broke above the 18 SMA ... instead it is dropping down through the 40 SMA, accompanied by the CCI Histogram 50 going below the Zero Line, we have a Sell Signal

Been there, done that.

Now... I don't don't know what your data feed / charting setup is, but most of them (alright, SOME of them - I'm only familiar with CQG, Esignal, and Ninja Trader) let you export the data showing on your chart, in various formats.

You can import data into your spreadsheets (and other programs, scuh as database managers - I personally use various forms of Xbase and am playing with SQL's, but certainly you can use Access or others, as well) in most of the formats that can be exported.

Soooo... although I realize that daily data entry of a whole four numbers is not a gigantic chore, at some point you might wish to be able to click a couple of things in your chart and export the current data, then bring up your spreadsheet, click a couple of things and import that data and look at your calculations...

Yeah, I know most of the charting apps let you do some calculating and displaying, but I haven't really been too thrilled with most of them so far.

Anyway... just FYI.

So long as the CCI Histogram 50 is below the Zero Line, the Market is in a Down Trend.

Interesting correlations Don, since I only play the e-mini's directional I'd wait until they all line up, then hit'em!

Thanks for the info, BTW, S1 comes in at 1291, so head's up to any Shorts out there.

Had to cover the short at breakeven after 2 pts, there just isnt' much room for it to fall. That's why I was hoping for a higher run-up before the the drop ...
