Trading and Dating

Any relationship built on deception will eventually fail, be it personal or business. When it does, you will then learn the true definiton of "drawdown". The lawyers will teach it to you.

Let's keep the lawyers out of it, for now..

LOL

I would rather be honest but that seems to be reducing my success rate, so time to get a little creative. I'm not looking to settle down right now, just get more action than I have been getting lately, so if it necessitates being a little devious and telling them what they want to hear, so be it.

So, what are your suggestions for describing my job to make it sound more desirable? I am thinking of "investor", and if asked for details say I invest my own money in different financial markets. Sounds more conservative. Also thought of "fund manager" but that one gets tricky when asked about clients.
When asked how they describe their job and deal with the daytrader stigma, Lightningsmurf said "I design and implement derivative and equity systems." :) I always liked that.

Seeing as I'm 19, and most of my friends are not in my position. I told one of my friends I was a trader, trading stocks, kinda like on Wall St. and stuff. Then that person immediately thought I was rich and I could tell he was jealous and pissed.

So now I just tell my friends around my age that I have been planning on working for myself and just run an online business for now. Telling someone who has no or little money or who has a boss and hates their job (like a lot of people around here do), that you work for yourself and trade for a living and have the capability to bring in potentially hundreds of thousands to millions per year, obviously does not make for good conversation.

Although my sister & her husband love to talk about it since they both run their own business.

It's strange.

To girls when I see at the club...... well, it never usuaully gets that far, and long-term relationship and Virginia don't seem to be on the same page as myself as dealing with a girl right now in my life is a definite no no. I got my own stuff to deal with.

Although if I saw a girl that was talking about her stocks & investment plans, and how she manages her money and she was around my age and pretty good looking, I might have to get to know her.... :p

The truth is always the best way if you really like someone, but that doesn't mean you have to give them ALL the details at the start. :)

Quality bullshit will get you laid in no time, end of. One has to see whether you will gel long term, what if she is crap in bed? You don't want to get stuck with that crumpet for a long time, do you now? Get laid first, then explain that you are not really THE James Bond, if she likes you, she WILL forgive ya. A fella I used to know went even further than that by simply saying "You fancy a fook?" to almost every girl in a club and I tell you - that jammy bastard used to walk out a club with a broad every night, after taking a few slaps, literally.

The women in my age group (28-33) are mostly looking to settle down and find someone to have kids with. When I tell them I'm a trader I'm sure a lot immediately think gambler/high risk/unreliable. If asked to explain it further it probably sounds worse as I'm sure I confuse them more as most have never heard of futures trading.

I would rather be honest but that seems to be reducing my success rate, so time to get a little creative. I'm not looking to settle down right now, just get more action than I have been getting lately, so if it necessitates being a little devious and telling them what they want to hear, so be it.

How does reducing your success rate become a problem if you are looking for a girlfriend you want around as a REAL FRIEND even if you don't want marriage right now?

If HONESTY is causing you such a problem right now, I suggest contacting an escort agency and establish a professional relationship.

Dude, you sure don't live in the real world. Even in a 10 year old marriage you have to tweak your answers.

When was the last time when any sensitive man honestly answered a "Honey, do I look fat in this jeans?" type of question???

Funny in my experience the HOT ONES never ask.

This thread has had me in stitches! Good work all.

I think the best way to think of it is this. If you are looking to settle down and find a nice girl it will not matter what you do for a living because at the end of the day the whole things is bullsh!t. Dating/ marriage/relationships are not much more than a glorified peacock dance to impress a potential mate and sow your seed.

People go on about love etc etc its just a trick women use to get you to have kids with them and then a trick kids use to get you to feed them. Ever wonder why babies look so cute?, it’s simply so they get attention and they get fed it’s a chemical reaction/process nothing more.

All logic goes out the window when in love that’s why your friends can always see the failing in your partner but at first you never can. It’s a trick that’s all it is so enjoy the ride while it lasts but realise that’s all it is.

Isn’t it funny when you hear people say “she was the only one for me” “we were meant to be together etc funny how that always happens to someone you know within a 2 mile radius or in your direct social contact. The whole thing is a fraud but its great fun to participate in it and enjoy it. I guess what I am saying is don’t take life too seriously and stop worrying.
