no, religion itself makes people do stupid things. it wasn't willful trifling either, i'm simply reading it at face value. The bible talks of selling people as property, that's what is known as slavery and it is not condemned.
besides given the 3000 or so sects of christianity and all their different interpretations, I would say that trifling is pretty much what you all do anyway.
If religion helps traders, then which religion and which god is preferred? Will Shiva or Vishnu help? Why should muslims or jews get any help if they deny the resurrection? my wife prays to 'the energy' which she swears helps her out in life.

i am sorry about your family but that is sad. the only way you can reconcile belief in a loving god who lets bad things happen to good people is to come to the conclusion that it is better they are dead because they will miss out on some fable concocted by man called the tribulation?
