Total US Debt Rises Over $18 Trillion; Up 70% Under Barack Obama

yes, very little to do with my quality of life until inflation rears it's ugly head

not too worried about the stock market, I am a trader and well protected

and yes I have gone out on credit betting on better times to come

not sure really what auto companies have to do with anything

could you expand on how banks steal taxpayers dollars? I pay taxes and I don't like anybody stealing from me, especially my bank

We're not talking about Loyek here, we're talking about the public. It's great that you're protected, but most people are not. In fact, most people with any 401k in the stock market get killed when bubbles pop. That's why you see 71 year old Walmart greeters that thought they had their retirement "in the bag".

Auto companies were given taxpayer bailouts. They ran inefficient companies, sold poor quality products and then were bailed out with taxpayer dollars. This provides no incentive to fix their company, just continue bad business as usual.

As for banks, banks borrow the money printed by the Federal reserve to gamble on speculative positions. They keep the profits, and when they blow up, they are bailed out with taxpayer money. You don't see anything wrong with this arrangement?

Here's your coherent reply, Spike, though I'd bet that once you get it you'll go scurrying back under your rock and not offer anything to the conversation.

Comparing Obama to Bush - which is something the left has done since Obama was a household name - is not an excuse. Bush was a horrible President. He wasn't a conservative, and he spent like a drunken sailor. Obama promised to be someone different. Remember all that hope and change? Do I have to pull up the videos again that show Obama talking about how reckless it is to raise the debt limit? How irresponsible it is to spend beyond our means, etc? It's too bad Senator Obama wasn't in the White House. All we got was President Obama.

Bush is irrelevant for the discussion, unless all you're trying to do is come up with excuses (which is the left's M.O.). Stop trying to blame Bush and focus on the things that Obama is doing wrong. Conservatives will agree that Bush was horrible. Liberals will defend Obama's actions to the death, no matter how horrible.

That is the difference between the sides. I'd like to hear your coherent reply, though I won't hold my breath.

Spike? Did you vanish? No pithy comeback?

I said i would like to see a coherent reply to what loyek wrote , but sadly what you wrote was NOT a coherent reply, as was said, it was akin to 'kitchen table economics'

Also i did not say i was going to write a thesis on US Debt. I wanted to hear forum members views. Maybe i should have asked Piezoe directly.

Ah, so what is wrong with my reply, then? Please, elaborate.

here's my view...

as long as we have no idea how many trillions of digital dollars the Fed is creating... we really don't know what the cause of inflation is. In theory... if the Govt was borrowing money that already existed or was from other countries... we should not experience much overall inflation as the inflation caused by govt demand might be partially off set by the demand which was sucked out of the private sector.

However when the govt spends and the Fed creates money to buy it's debt and the Fed creates unlimited and unmonitored dollars to spend or give away on its own? We really don't have any idea how badly the dollar is being debased... and consequently we have know idea how much of the American peoples work and assets are being stolen by the few who control and own the dollar.

Well for one, at election times Politicians promise votes the world and fail to deliver.
Also Boeher and Republicans have many times promised all kinds of shit without delivering. We don't hear many "Good Job Dear Representatives'' here do we ?

About an hour ago I created a Benedict Boehner thread for that very reason. And Senator Sessions is already calling out the leadership.

So failing to keep one's promises is ok? There's nothing wrong with that? Criticizing the President for making a promise to get elected and then reneging on it is "kitchen table economics"? It's nice to see what they teach you zombies in school these days. Just accept it. Ah, no big deal - they always lie, so it's not a problem.

As for Republicans doing the same, we're all over them on this forum every time they screw up. Hell, Jem made a post about it not one hour ago! The difference is you let Democrats get away with everything.

Wow, what an asshat.
