Topstep trader combine as a newb.

Appreciate it, it is certainly my approach to run those winners. Today's mismanaged trade should've been an easy ride for 4 hours or so. The execution was just poor. I agree, need to cut out a lot of those probes in the chop. I hope it's something that comes with more experience.

No real way to tell, when a Trend will start, loads of false starts, entering mid trend runs the risk of trend failing on your pull back entry anyway, so Low Risk Probes are fine even if you take 4 or 5 hits in a row then make it all back and extra letting a trade run.

If you can get the probe to give you a chance of making your SL, then flip sides to probe the other way, then your probes could cover there own cost, then the breaks are all profit :)

That's my theory/plan I'm working towards anyway!

Missed initial trade by 1/2 point. Was a good zone, just wasn't aggressive enough. Would've hit a plus 10 target. two more trades, both -2's. Will take one more today if I see something, if it fails, cutting it off for the day.
 
Two more trades. nothing special. stopped on a single lot for plus 4, went 8 points and reversed.
A two lot trade, goal was to trim 5 and hold a runner. Getting the 5 was tough, stopped half for 4.25 and stopped second half for 2. 2090 zone wasn't giving up easy. Leader names holding in too well, feel like vix been a liar lately. Really could've considered long down there once I saw the reaction.

Appreciate it, read through some old threads and have seen a good bit of people knocking the combine. The sim has felt pretty real to me so far. Definitely been an experience, even over just 8 days. I can see a lot of holes, that I'm hoping are just a product of my newness.
 
Day 3 finish, nothing special so far. One good idea off the open, which offered a bit over 15 points, missed the fill by 1/2 point. Had to cut the other winners short when we couldn't break support. 5 trades a day seems rather excessive, 2 or 3 seems better for my style. Although this is showing 5 trades today, I actually only made 4, they must be counting my "trim" trade as 2 for whatever reason.

On to tomorrow.

Good job Jjs, keep it up. Don't fall into the revenge trading trap if you experience a drawdown again. Set a hard limit for the day (some type of % of your max daily loss limit) and have enough discipline to stop trading at YOUR limit, not TSTs limit...and for god's sake, set your commissions in your platform so you know EXACTLY where you are at PL wise.
