I look at the Politics section and it's become a safe place for racists to promote their message. Which leads me to believe that this site is not understanding what is going on in their country right now.

For those who believe in free speech to extremes, what I have to say is this. "derektrader" and others are spamming the board insulting "blacks" and women, and in some posts suggesting complete anarchy and violent actions against all their perceived enemies. Yet when I posted in jest about a bullet it was termed a "death threat" and I got a warning. So much for free speech. I don't know why clear cut racists get free reign on here, but it's tone deaf given what the protests are all about this year.

Yes, you are free to do what you want, and it's totally legal in the US. Doesn't make it right. If the one thing you could do about racial harmony was to ban racist content from your site, then it's something you should be doing.

Both the posts from others you are referring to and your "catch a bullet" post seem to violate the EliteTrader Terms of Service and Rules. The difference could be your post was considered a personal attack on another EliteTrader member, and someone reported it.

Baron may not be around the past days or weeks (e.g. vacation, sick) and if you're not reporting it even though the Political section is not a section for the faint of heart...

You can at least alert him to the situation.

If you're still not satisfy with his response, you can always alert social media about the situation here at ET which is something I'm sure Baron would not want to see social groups calling out the racist political section on other social media formats during social unrest occurring in the U.S. and in other countries.

Then again, if you raised an alert to the sponsors on social media about what's going on here at ET...you may get more attention to the issue.

Simply, work your way up the chain via starting with reporting the ET member directly to Baron. He's a smart guy and know when someone is abusing his terms of use policy even in a very sneaky / dark way. Should be an easy fix.

Yet, if you're doing the same...you both could be banned after you've alerted Baron about the issue.

What was said, that was racist? Just curious. I think you mentioned this before, and was asked the same question, and didn't have an answer. If fact, the person who asked was me, I think. So are you just trying to paint someone as a racist, or trying to be the internet's moral watchdog and thought police all rolled up in one package? I don't get it. And you want to talk about bullets and shrug it off as a joke? If I see genuine racist dialog or monolog or any other sort of log at all, I will probably killfile that person. That is real pre-www internet talk for filtering or as it is said now, "ignoring". By the same token, those who baselessly accuse others of the same offense will get killfiled as well. Which has nothing to do with actual mortality. Again, you are probably more familiar with the term "ignore" when actually it is not ignoring at all. Since I already know you won't provide us with examples of the racism you are alledging, I will proactively <PLONK> you which again, is pre-www talk. the newfangled "google" is, as they say, your friend.

I expressed my opinion and have no motivation to pursue it further. The US is a mess in so many ways and this site is reflecting on some of the effects of that mess. The truth, science, basic human decency and empathy are under attack. Everyone should ask themselves are they contributing to the problems or promoting a better life for everyone. And my opinion is the racist content on this site is contributing to the current social ills of American society.

Tone deaf is an apt description of what is going on here.

My dream used to be to emigrate to the US. That dream stopped a long time ago. Now it seems like half of the US is more socialist than Europe, and unless the US finds back to its roots, it will be totally irrelevant within a generation or two....

This is the second time this week you’ve made backhanded threats against Baron and ET in the feedback section. Frickin’ drama here is worse than the P&R.

Actually, no threats...I sometimes talk to Baron via private message via many different issues that I'm complaining about and I'm happy that he even responds considering I know he has bigger problems that he prefers to deal with then these types of "frickin drama" as you call it.

Simply, just because you may feel you're threaten or feel someone else is threaten...does not imply its a threat to Baron just because you take it personally.

Further, to this specific topic...its already done by users but I just don't point the finger at specific users just like I don't notify Baron to which specific users are talking about members here at ET, talking about Baron himself nor do I think Baron cares about the even when members here at ET do the same about those elsewhere on social media and then posting direct links to their own tweets about other members here at ET.

For the record, I'm sure Baron knows I don't threaten him and he knows I poke around a problem in my responses to certain individuals to try to get him to investigate a problem because I was specifically told by different moderators (ET use to have multiple moderators) over the years that they don't read everything and sometimes Baron is not aware of a problem.

Maybe you're a little green under the collar but the Feedback section has always been drama like the Chit Chat / Political threads whereas sometimes its used appropriately. This has been the situation almost from the beginning. In fact, I think the feedback section has greatly improved...less drama over the years here in the Feedback section since the marketsurfer days.

I bring marketsurfer up for a specific reason. He's the first ET member that I notice (there may have been others) that use to go on social media and complain about what was occurring here at ET whenever he had heated problems with others here at ET. Members here complained, laughed about it, openly discussed such here at ET whenever he did that including posting direct links to his tweets.

Elitetrader.com has always since I can remember been heated discussed at other trading forums, twitter, facebook and so on or at least when Baron once try to connect / make ET more social media friendly via a link below the message posts in which the message post can be sent to Twitter or something like that.

My point, what you consider as a threat is already being done by others and I'm not the one creating hate threads in the Politics section. If you're curious, back in 2015, the hashtag #elitetrader did not have the Politics section as the 2nd result in the search engine.

Back in 2015, the Politics section showed up in the search engine on either the 4th or 5th pages in the search results.

• Today, it now shows up on the 1st result page and in the 2nd listing slot as shown in the screenshot below. Why those particular user names inside the red circle ?

The silly question now...whom is doing it, why, why specific members and not others in the Politics section are showing up in the search results and whom would be offended that I would even mention such here in the Feedback section ?

Simply, I don't always use the direct route with Baron in my private message discussions with him to alert him about something occurring here at his forum. Sometimes I let others make it an issue in which I then make a follow up message post (often in a sarcastic way about something that's already occurring) to it about the situation.

As stated, I've never reported anything that's stated in the Political sections.

In contrast, I have reported message posts in the trading related threads. In fact, I remember the very first message post I reported via a private message to a moderator...

An ET member threaten to shoot someone after another member publicly posted his home address. Seriously, if people can't behave themselves outside of the Political / Chit Chat threads...

In my opinion, they should not be welcome here and their violation of the terms of use policy...those messages should be deleted and they were in fact...deleted.

Yet, there's a problem with the ignore / block feature because its being abused as noted by others in other threads and by Baron himself although such has been occurring for many years.

Personally, wouldn't have a problem with your Politics but if someone cross the line / attack me via a personal attack in a trading related thread that's not the Politics section...that would be very problematic. I sometimes refer to it as barking up the wrong tree.

Yet, I still would not report you if such is done the exact same thing...word for word in the Politics section.

Baron created the Politics section for Political / Chit Chat bullshit discussions. The issue I have is when it spills over into the trading related sections and used to troll someone especially when someone uses my user name in their rants...continuing after they are ignored / blocked.

Simply, I don't like your Politics. We can agree to disagree. Yet, don't tell me I can not express my Politics nor get mad when I call out people for getting mad at me when I express my Politics in the Political threads nor get mad at me when I call out those getting mad at me in the trading related threads about something I stated in the Politics thread.

By the way, the people on my ignore / block list has nothing to do with their Politics or anything they said in the Politics section. I ignore / block people for something they said in the trading related threads.

The problem is that some people don't see ET as a trading forum. Instead, they see ET as a Political forum or Chit Chat forum.

Isn't that concerning too you for those that are here to talk about trading ?
