So instead you want them to spend their time talking about Obama's birth certificate, and Clinton's emails?

It is inane and shows utter disrespect of the American citizens worries. Trump should swing back like a boomerang all of those questions into real issues. Make a fool of the moderators by counter-punching, not by defending himself or insulting back, but by showing real respect of the issues of millions of suffering Americans.

I guarantee you Clinton would be on her back heels. But as Clinton has correctly pointed out, "A man that can be baited by a tweet isn't fit to be POTUS".

These debates with a Republican in it are Thunderdome politics - hence the title of this thread. Pure entertainment. Bernie was interviewed beforehand by CNN, and he warned of this sort of track.

You are out of touch. How can you even say that? Bernie Sanders got almost 15 million votes on three key issues - one of them was Citizen's United. Keep thinking this way and Trump will be retiring on his golf courses soon.

Immigration is a big issue and should be talked about seriously.

Bernie got votes because he was not Hillary and he appealed to the far left of the democrat party. Hillary is not going near CU because of all the corporate money she has scarfed up.

Most voters do not even know what it is. They are basing their votes on things like which candidate is a bigger celebrity.

Read their policy platforms on the various issues and then look at expert comparative assessments from sources that you believe are legitimate and non-partisan. That's the only way you will get detailed substance on which to draw meaningful conclusions. What you seem to expect cannot be done in a couple of hours in prime time. What you will get from the debates is a glimpse of the above and an idea of how the candidates prepare and conduct themselves, and how well they can think on their feet; how they would deal with and represent their country.
