I mostly agree with this. But non of those people as moderators are correct.

In the age of the internet, the questions should be asked online, with a real-time voting meter up-thumb or down-thumb of suggested questions. A final yea or nay from a political scientist or historian from a major university from the top five questions is selected.

If elections are about voters, why isn't there a system to get them to ask the questions of their representatives?

A better arrangement would be to have three debates and let each candidate pick a single mod for the first two and maybe have two mods for the last debate, one chosen by each candidate. A candidate could hardly complain about unfairness from a mod they had selected, and if their mod was too unfair on the other candidate, a backlash could be expected, plus the mod would lose credibility.

If you had this sort of setup, the first debate maybe would be called by Chris Matthews and the second by Sean Hannity. The third would feature Rachel Maddow and Ann Coulter. Tell me that wouldn't be more entertaining and informative than having a moron like Lester Holt arguing incessantly with Trump?

Or maybe the idea was to harass Trump with shit questions to get him to drop out? Everyone and his cousin already knows the guy has race issues. Everyone and his cousin already knows that Clinton is at best shady.

Nitro, the biggest single issue in the election is immigration. No one cares about Citizens United. Trump missed a big chance with the opening question when he didn't point out how immigration is costing jobs at the low end of the wage scale and bankrupting local governments.

You are out of touch. How can you even say that? Bernie Sanders got almost 15 million votes on three key issues - one of them was Citizen's United. Keep thinking this way and Trump will be retiring on his golf courses soon.

Immigration is a big issue and should be talked about seriously.
