"Throw grandma under the bus!"

I've known Obama politically his whole career and my Congressional run in Chicago coincided with his U.S. Senate victory in 2004. I was close with Alan Keyes. The Obama myth began in that campaign. It's sickening.

Guys, I see some real cracks though. I've always been an avid reader of "Letters to the Editor" and now I also peruse the on-line "comments" under stories appearing in mainstream metropolitan dailies. I'm looking for sentiment- readers of the Chicago Tribune are a broader idealogical sample than the DailyKos. I've seen it in both print and the Internet: Obama topped out weeks ago.

More and more you'll read “I'm a Democrat and I support Hillary but I could never vote for Obama. His staying in that church makes his judgment questionable.....” Wright buried him. No matter what poll respondents say he's now unelectable. I predict he won't even be the nominee.

I really do feel for Hillary. She annihilates this guy in big states that the Democrats must continue to hold. Then because she gets swamped by Obama in traditional red states that Obama will never in a million years carry we hear nothing but of her plunge. Wake up Democrats, South Carolina will not be going to Obama. In fact Obama has doubly benefited by race. He of course get's near all the black vote (lotta good the first Black prez thing does now, eh Bill). In addition Obama gets the sizable nod from white voters who don't live around more than two blacks. If you're a Democrat in Montana or Vermont it makes you feel SO diverse, open and happening to support a man of color. Even if he's only halfway from Being Al Jolson. Democrat Whites in the South and the northern big city suburbs are more ambivalent. They've already voted black. In their eyes he's nothing special at least racially. Been there done that. To those voters not only does he not hold a race edge but more and more his policy disclosures, gaffes-becoming numerous-Wright, Rezko, NAFTA, bitter) are cutting his support huge.

Fact: Jews write newspapers (and write on ET) in disproportionate amounts. No surprise. They skew high as literate, witty and opinionated. Hence they write. I've seen an outpouring of letters from Jewish
readers opposing Obama. Only the most self hating, self destructive secular Jew would vote for a guy who's friends with Farrakhan. Latinos, Asians? He'll lose droves of them to McCain. Gays too. An Afro-Islamic-Wright type state isn't big on Pride Day.

Obama is history unless he winds up on the ticket under Gore.

^^Pabst, I agree Obama is in deep shit, and between now and November he's going to sink even deeper due to all the factors you've mentioned.

That being said, I want Obama to win the Dem nomination. McCain has a far better chance of defeating him than Hillary IMO.

Not to forget the fact that Jimmy Carter will return from his meeting with Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal in Damascus (and possibly from additional, yet to be scheduled meetings with Islamic terrorists if we know Jimmy) to deliver the keynote address at the Democratic convention in Denver this summer. This can't be good for the enthusiasm of American Jewish voters supporting the Democratic ticket, especially if Obama is the nominee. They have traditionally voted 28-30% Republican, so, this % may now grow to 50%, who knows? :)

The total jewish vote is fairly small in a national campaign.

Obama is getting every black vote and many young new voters.

If you look at the county dem primary vote obama is winning big in urban areas and losing big outside the major cities.

The Dems should pick the one that wins the most electorial votes since that is really the purpose of elections. Hillary would be the winner then

Barack can't keep his mouth shut and can't stop stepping on his own dick. And Billarary can't make any progress on his unbelievably stupid and frequent gaffs.

I'm no supporter of Billarary or Barack. But he's a like a stock that won't go down on bad news. And the right wing froths at the mouth because of this....pure comedy.

Obama is the current front runner. By attacking him it is hoped that the Democrat party will end up exactly where you are - you hate both of your candidates - perfect! May all Democrats end up as smart as you...

Obama is winning without have to attack Hilary
If Obama gets the nomination,Most of Clinton supporters will support him.If Hilary steals the nomination, she wont get Obamas supporters

No Democrat can win the presidency without the black vote. She wont get the black vote if shes steals it from Obama. Most blacks will stay home and many will vote for McCain out of anger.for those that think the black vote doesn't matter, its their votes by a 90% margin that has him ahead of her

The Dem's might be in trouble.Unless something so damaging about Obama is revealed that blacks will forgive her for stealing the nomination, they better not give it to Hilary

Obama might lose,it seems he is damaged more and more every week, but he still has a better chance then Hilary if she steals it.(I'm not counting Obama out, seems he can talk his way out of anything)

Thier best bet is to find an acceptable way to give it to Gore

Some interesting Michelle Obama quotes:

"I have some difficulty reconciling the two images I have of Barack Obama. There's Barack Obama the phenomenon. He's an amazing orator, Harvard Law Review, or whatever it was, law professor, best-selling author, Grammy winner. Pretty amazing, right? And then there's the Barack Obama that lives with me in my house, and that guy's a little less impressive."
"For some reason this guy still can't manage to put the butter up when he makes toast, secure the bread so that it doesn't get stale, and his five-year-old is still better at making the bed than he is." New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd reported at the time, "She added that the TV version of Barack Obama sounded really interesting and that she'd like to meet him sometime."
Even Barack Obama's own wife doesn't buy into his snake-oil salesman, political jive.

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

You know I share your low opinion of both, but I am beginning to think that Obama may be a different threat altogether. We survived eight years of Clinton rule. McCain can't be worse than Bush, and may be considerably better on issues like spending.

Obama however is probably the most leftwing Senator ever elected. Certainly he would be the most leftwing president ever. The Wright controversy seemed anomalous to his many fans in the media, but I am beginning to think it was anything but anomalous. Another thread detailed some of his far left connections, which of course the media is ignoring. Obama, perhaps by virtue of his very unusual background, does not really seem American. He even makes a show of shunning the patriotic gestures, like putting hand over heart during the National Anthem or wearing a flag pin, that others in public life treat as customary. His signature issue in the Senate is a vast expansion of foreign aid. Of course, he supports a massive erosion of our sovereignty, whether through the UN, illegal immigration, global warming treaties or naive disarmament policies.

Now compare what you just wrote to the objectives of the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) of whom he is a part of
