Oh my god it's happening. It's actually happening I'm so scared. I got in touch with an auction house the last one went for $32,000 holy smokes easy stoney easy that one was in great condition yours has a big stain ON THE BACK not the front but over the Warhol signature. Yea Ac I got a freakin' real one I worked at the studio for a bun ch of years and never got squat but a small paycheck and a great time. I became great friends with the vid director there and then I paid to get him into Alcohol treatment and he gave me the pic which is inscribed to him. I really don't know how any of this works and it has to be authenticated by the foundation I know it's real and I know it's mine but proof is in the eye of the beholder.... what's that about possession being 9/10's ?????? Oh man. I'm going with a $15 to TWENTY GRAND estimate and just really hoping the art market holds up until December.... OH please!!!! This would take care of my whole kitchen in one swoop and I might get a coffee table out of it and a weekend in Puerto Plata. All from a dusty envelope under my bed.... fingers crossed.... ~stoney
Well, i read dennis hopper bought the first soup can picture, went for $20 mill, of which his wife got the lot. Ouch.
Just an idea, but if you want top dollar for this, (given its presumably not pristine condition) that sort of history is what will do it.
Your not talking about art, your talking about a celebrity cult-Warhol's coffee mug could get $20k, you know?
You need to beat up that lineage, your (and the pics) direct association with warhol/studio etc, its not "just" a print, its a story, a direct connection to that boomers bohemia.
That should more than negate any stain, for that matter, if warhol spilled coke on it (cola) and put the stain there, you could be looking at ten times that, who knows.
This was given to his vid director, then onto you? Thats history, and should be worth a premium.
