This Ted Cruz is a flat out wackjob

But with Cruz we would go back to the gold standard. Wouldn't it be cool to toss a leather pouch of gold nuggets on the bar and shout, "bartender, ale!" Hey, carry a broadsword, too!
:D

You can do whatever you like, I will just continue calling him 'Hijo de Chingada from Canada". Its no wonder everyone who has ever worked with him can't stand him.

Please show where Cruz supports a return to the gold standard. I'm assuming you have a link to his platform saying so?

'Cruz has come closest among the candidates to stating this directly. "We need sound money," he said at the Oct. 28 GOP debate hosted by CNBC. "I think the Fed should get out of the business of trying to juice our economy and simply be focused on sound money and monetary stability, ideally tied to gold."'

Cruz is a nut job, an extremely smart nut job, the most dangerous kind. Unfortunately the natural constituency of the Republican party is far too small in numbers to elect anyone, so they have had to give out way too many free tickets to Joe the plumber, his buddies, and all the many and diverse evangelical crackpots, to be able to fill all the empty seats under their circus tent. Now, of course they are reaping what they have sowed, and it is comical to see that they don't like the wild nut grass that's springing up everywhere. They have reached the point where if a stable, qualified candidate made it all the way through their primary process, it could be regarded as a miracle.

The Democrats too have given out some extra tickets to their circus tent, but only a few for the last few rows of the upper deck, far from the center ring, were available. The Republicans have worked tirelessly, but unwittingly of course, these past 35 years to help the Democrats grow their natural constituency. The Democrats should be very grateful to the Republicans. Thanks to those Republican efforts, the sane and stable constituency of the Democrats is now much larger than the Republican's. The Democrats now have a tremendous advantage in National elections.

Weird. I didn't see that in the debate when I saw it, and I don't see it mentioned anywhere on his platform. Nor has he mentioned it anywhere else other than this supposed quote.

I'm assuming you have a linked transcript and didn't just make that up.

Edit, I guess he must have mentioned it. That raises his stock even more in my book - though I think he was more advocating a return to sound money (something we sorely lack).

Here's the write up by Forbes.

The right predominantly supports, or at least appreciates, the gold standard. In addition to Ted Cruz’s direct advocacy presidential contenders Donald Trump, Rand Paul, Ben Carson and Mike Huckabee have made sympathetic statements. Jeb Bush has professed open-mindedness.

I'm not surprised a cheerleading crusader for the Federal Reserve would think Cruz is a nut job. The fact that the likes of you think he's crazy makes him even more viable a candidate to me.

You may want to reconsider your basing your opinion of Cruz on my opinion of the Federal Reserve. That seems a bit screwy to me. Nevertheless you get to vote. I suppose that is the beauty of the few vestiges of democracy existing at the federal level. If you live in the wrong State your vote may not count, but you can always hope.

One beauty of the Marxian perspective is the truth that capitalism breeds its own discord, if not demise. Small differences in initial conditions lead to large differences in final conditions. People left to their own will naturally stratify themselves along lines of size, aggression, and intelligence, or relative lack thereof. The winners use their accumulating advantage and power to protect themselves and their offspring, and increase the distance between themselves and the "losers". But without government intervention the losers will come to vastly outnumber the winners. And that's the beauty of democracy, when your society is swinging too far one way, it's reflected in the voting.

Lol @ "supposed" quote.

Edit: saw your edit.

So if returning to a gold standard "raises his stock even more" in your opinion, why challenge that he said he wanted it? You should have cheered it.
