Yes, that is an excellent plan.
I too am retired from financial services.
I have found that swing trading is critical for the reasons you have already cited. I tell my Doctors markets are like a giant chess game that never ends. Most of them immediately understand.
We currently reside in a 55+ Community in Southeast Delaware. Everybody here has their mind focused on what is really important.
On the other side of the spectrum we have Message boards like this one. Many young people here, young at least in the attitudes one gets shaped over time. As the old adage goes:
"The stock market builds character and teaches humility"
And against the backdrop of the banter here that pretends to be a serious message board and in the immortal words of Harry Chapan,
the famous line from Taxi comes to mind:
"The lesson hadn't gone too far"

I am looking for people in my peer group.

I have no issue with the beginners that are looking for guidance. It's those with a "get rich quick" mentality that I've come to despise, the ones gambling in 0 DTE naked call/put options during report days or chasing after the current hot meme or hype stock, or those who believe high IV is equal to free money.

Wading through that shit gives me head ache so I will seek to avoid it.

I shouldn't really complain, because the market makers need to eat, the HFT firms need to eat, the hedge funds need to eat, the prop shops need to eat, the professional traders need to eat and the semi-professional traders need to eat. It's actually good for everyone that volumes and activity have exploded. As long as I don't have to see it, lol.
 
Baron's forum here is a goldmine. All the education anyone needs is here.

Although there's lots of not-good posts, too... the good far outweighs it. I only have time to participate in 1 forum, and Elite Trader is the world's best.

I know what Barrons is, but what is the Barron’s Forum and where do I find it? It’s not listed on the sidebar. I’m probably misunderstanding what you are referring to.
