Is overwhelming for a new guy. Between this and FinTwit I can spend all day going through stuff

I’ve been spending my time here in the Trading (here) section. But there are all these other sections (journals, tech analysis, etc) that look interesting. So my question is, where should I spend my time if I could only pick one (or maybe two) sections? I’m a former (retired) financial advisor, did asset allocation and didn’t trade short term for a living. I’m looking to learn to swing trade, what to look for in set ups, etc. where is my time best spent? (Maybe it’s here, just tell me?)

Your best bet is to spend the majority of your time on charts and only come here when you have a question about what you see on the charts

Hi KGTrader4. Elite Trader is better for asking questions you can easily find the answers to yourself or to share experiences. It is not really a place to learn a process to trade.

Humbly, I think possibly the best posts on ET was posted years ago. I would check out a few of the Hall of Fame threads and use the search function. There's a lot of gold buried here.

right. there are tons of useful info over here.

But when members started to quarrel,
the way they string the words together was very impressive / powerful / horrific / disruptive / corrosive. I'd give them 10/10 rating.
I learned something about quarreling from them.

I would agree. Much like larger pieces of society, there has been a shift in the collective desire to share and collaborate online among strangers. While we still have some great posters and contributors today, many more valuable contributors have ceased coming around on a regular basis or were completely run off by trolls and others. Take some time to really look around and do some digging...there's some wonderful stuff here that you can't put a price on.

as far as looking at charts, yup, I do that, half the time I don’t know what I’m looking at. But I guess it comes with time, looking at what happens on a chart before a stock takes off.

I'm assuming swing trading stocks. If so have you read O'Neil's "How to make money in stocks"?

YouTube for methodology. Don't buy anything but see what strategies might fit your personality.

It's quite simple but not easy because your hard earned money is involved.
