Nothing ridiculous about it. You yourself could measure the CO2 coming out of tailpipes and smokestacks--if you found any, any at all, you'd know that Man is now producing CO2 from fossil fuels, a previously untapped source. Then you could calculate the growth of such emissions over time--then you'd know Man is releasing more CO2 than he did before. Then you could look for Man's signature on the CO2 molecules in the atmosphere and confirm that his CO2 emissions make it "up there". Then you could conclude that Man is making the "glass" thicker, despite, or rather in addition to, the other, ancient forces which also, cyclically, do as well.Quote from jem:
they may or may not be... which is why I am not making any ridiculous scientific pronouncements... yet you all on the left do.

your point is almost irrelevant to this discussion.
Do you not get what the historical records show.
When temperature goes up the glass gets thicker.
When temperature goes down the glass gets thinner.
So how the hell you claim man is making the glass thicker. you probably can't ever prove that... because both man and the earth naturally release CO2 and only some the release gets mixed into the thicker glass.
Man is not making the glass thicker, but...Quote from jem:

Man is making the glass thicker.
because both man and the earth naturally release CO2 and only some [of] the release gets mixed into the thicker glass.

Man is making the glass thicker.
The "glass gets thicker" IS the increasing CO2, caused by solar and orbital cycles.Quote from jem:
based on historical records it looks like the glass gets thicker as a function of temperature... not the amount of CO2 released.
Doesn't need to be "all" to have an effect.
how many times can I say... not all the co2 released gets mixed into the glass...

(Check the chart, your favorite chart, again. CO2 over the long haul tops out around 290-300 ppm. Where is it today? What's the trend?)
But before the industrial revolution, that CO2 release came from ordinary carbon sinks, the oceans and vegetation being two. Man is now releasing/creating CO2 from deep, previously unaffected sinks, oil, gas, coal.

apparently Harvard's law review changed its policy from merit to affirmative action just in time for Obama.
so far I see nothing about Obama getting good grades.
We have strong indication he had poor grades in college.
Why did brass say Obama graduated magna?
Now, don't get me wrong.
I have watched him interviewed and give speeches. He is a smart man in my opinion... no doubt... but lets not pretend he was a scholar if he did not perform like a scholar.
