I believe you are on to something. I believe there are many other factors, but those who are not quite with it, so to speak, are even more subject to those factors: Influence by violent movies, violent video games, bullying, etc.

The question would then be: Do we disarm an entire society so that a few people with psychological problems can roam and do no harm, or do we go back to placing these individuals into locations where they can do no harm to themselves and to innocents including little children? If we are going to take away our second amendment rights instead than we should also shut down Hollywood and the video game industry. See how they like losing their rights. They want to blame the weapons, but aren't willing to shoulder any responsibility.

My guess is that there will be a renewed effort to now go after gun ownership without addressing the underlying cause(s) of this phenomenon.

I should add that I believe anger also plays a role in such violence. We live in an increasingly narcissistic society, so mental illness can’t be the sole blame. Let's not forget about the violence born of prohibition, too, though a little off topic. In this case being discussed, the murder of those kids was done by a mentally sick individual.

Hell with the money we spend on education every child in the USA could be taught by distance learning on the computer anyway.

Imagine a student sitting across from a principle being disciplined and that principle is wearing a sidearm. Very threatening probably to a parent also.

Nutmeg I really agree with no guns for the teachers. But for why I agree is because some people really think Latino and black boys are violent only because they are Latino or black. And I think some teachers will think this way too. So if some boys in school are fighting or angry, or talk loud, , and they are Latino or black, some teachers can shoot them and and say they fear for their life, and go to the stand your ground law.
Their fear of Latino or black people will make them imagine the boys will kill them.

I am not saying no protection for the schools. I am saying in the schools sometimes boys fight. They do that so much more than the girls. So in the 6 7 8 9...grade and more, boys are really loud sometimes, and get angry. And the teachers stop that fighting boys now, but not have guns to stop them. I am saying if the teachers have guns I think (some) teachers will feel fear more from Latino or black boys than the other boys, so they will use their gun to kill them, and say stand your ground.
You know YOU phoenix feel that fear that Latino and black people are have some nature to be violent and kill. You think like that. You think they have all some violence in their nature.
But if you look in the world, all people, all colors can be violent. But if someone that think like you is the teacher, they will kill Latino and black boys, then justify with the stand your ground. You know that too. That make you happy too.
