I just stumbled on this thread.
I graduated from boot camp in August 1982.
My platoon was 3048.
Gunnery Sergeant Caballero.

I don't know where the source of "all platoons" came from but it is wrong.
 
I graduated from Boot Camp summer of 1967, all I can remember was the barracks was D-2-4 because if I didn't know that I couldn't find my way back... oh wait, I can recall my serial number because if I couldn't recite that I couldn't get a meal sometimes.. Our motto was FTA..
