with all due respect are you talking about palestine or israel? almost all PM's of israel are known terrorist/war criminals. during war, one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. begin, shamir, sharon... the list grows. people have no idea how bad it is over there; sub human conditions breed extreme measures. i pity the innocent victims on both sides, jew or arab.
I'm not sure what the situation is now, but if they're still Democrats, why not go out on a limb and make a racial appeal to their Europeanness and that the Republican party better represents their interests as whites ("whites under attack etc")? As old Chicagoans, I'm sure they'd have seen enough crap in their lives to know that the "diversity" mythology the media feeds them (and the Democrats stand for) is a load of BS.

But it seems that for us to ask for our basic right to live like the rest of the world, we have to kiss up to everyone.
We are nice to everyone provided that they are not trying to get rid of us nor are they supporting a nation that is committing daily crimes against us.
You have stood firm against the atrocities committed by the fascist South African white regime yet you cannot dare lift a finger in objection to the identical atrocities committed by the state of Israel.
You have to admit, deep inside you, you whole heartedly believe that the whole land belong to Israel based on your religious beliefs. Given that fact, I really do not believe that our differences can be conciled.
By the way, I used similar words in discussions with religious Muslim people, if both of you think it is holly then it is a waste of time for you and I to discuss it logically.

And would such a policy really by myopic? Isn't it actually rather far-sighted?
Isn't it far more myopic to bet the destiny of a people on a flimsy theory like multiculturalism, which if it fails (as it is failing), it fails completely and irreversibly? That strikes me as not only myopic but irresponsible.

And if you want to talk about 'interdependence', in the case of Africa, they need us far more than we need them. And if they do have something we can't live without, there will always be someone willing to sell it to us, no matter what domestic policies America employs.
