The suddenly relevant debate about whether a president can be prosecuted, explained

Per the Comey/Clinton statute established last summer there can be no prosecution without first proving intent, and since intent is virtually impossible to prove in these cases, all allegations of wrong doing are to be ignored and dismissed. So sorry bout dat.

Man, this sub sucks, even the half decent commenters can't stop themselves from saying stupid things.

'Intent' when it comes to handling UNMARKED classified material is not even remotely close to someone in authority MAKING A DIRECT statement ASKING someone to 'let someone go' who is being investigated.

Jesus Christ

of course you focus on the irrelevant throw away comment I added for color.
its such a low integrity way of conducting your arguments.

Focus on the substance or even comment on the way his mind was working.
Frankly, after seeing that response... I can see why so many people had respected him prior his hillary debacle.

LOL, so you are a mind reader now And it's me who is spinning?

Focus on the substance.

You were SPECULATING, the video clearly shows that Comey was talking about DOJ officials - how is that relevant to Trump asking him to shut down an investigation? Is Trump a DOJ official - if not, how is it relevant to the Comey memo? Do explain the substance. Let's have a high integrity debate, tell me the relevance in direct words.

The republican mind will believe whatever it wants to believe not matter how far fetched. Look at how these people still cling to: Benghazi, Planned P sells baby parts, Vince Foster conspiracy, IRS targets conservatives, etc...

because when a person is under oath in an office like his ... you don't give partial answers that would mislead Congress or public.

his final statements are very big and broad. if he were just answering about the justice dept but not the president he would have been obligated to say... no one from justice has ever pressured me in that manner.

----

if you did provide a potentially misleading statement because you construed the question narrowly you quickly amend your statement the way jeff sessions did.

or you come back to congress and update them the way comey did when facts changed.

Comey was SPECIFICALLY asked about DOJ officials

He answered that question specifically.

How is it a partial answer when Trump is not a DOJ official and the question doesn't apply.

And how do you know that he didn't give more answers based on the 45 second clip?

he finally statements are very big and broad. if he were just answering about the justice dept but not the president he would have almost been obligated to say... no one from justice has ever pressured me in that manner.

then the follow up would have been... has anyone else.

LOL, your a lawyer, my old man was a lawyer so i have a pretty decent understanding of the law, any lawyer in the world is going to rip comeys ass apart based on that video, its over, based on that video alone, i just sent that to my dad and all he did was laugh and say yep game over.

You are spot on, the question is going to come back "So you didnt see fit to point out that the president of the united states was supposedly trying to swing your investigation at that point." Its so obvious only an idiot wouldnt realise their whole argument is completely fucked at this point.

Basically Comey's only argument now is to say he mislead the commission, which just shoots a gigantic hole in his credibility, and it also means that he was the one who broke the law.

you are correct about the 45 second clip. it might be out of context or given more context in the full testimony.

but if there are other parts of the testimony which modify this part of his testimony...
I expect to be seeing them very soon.

let me give one caveat. I saw the clip on my phone this morning while I was waiting in my car.
Leading me... to believe it must have been on breitbart or a link from drudge.

When I got to the office computer I did a search of breitbart and drudge and it was not there.

So I found it with google search. But, I am concerned that maybe there is an issue with it.
