Actually, some people thrive on high meat content and some people whither away on a vegetarian diet. As my nutritionist explained to me, we are a collection of thousands of years of "hand-me-down" genetics that determine how we metabolize our food. People have different combinations of genes and therefore we require different diets.
And simply condemning fats is misleading. For example, many nuts (vegetarian) are full of fats and yet are also very healthy -- for some people. Not so much for others. It depends.
Diet and nutrition are very complex and can't be accurately portrayed with sound bites or simplistic conclusions.
To say that "no one thrives on high fat" is simply untrue. I eat a lot of fat. The fat I eat is properly balanced with Omega-3/6/9 fatty acids and monounsaturates, much the way people ate sixty-thousand years ago, all derived from fresh food. My cholestrol and triglycerides are perfect. If I got my fats from french fries and milkshakes, I'm sure my cholesterol would go through the roof. All fats are not created equal.

Yes, some people can eat more fat and get away with it. The key is "get away with it", not THRIVE. No one thrives on HIGH FAT! No one. eventually catches you!
