the sooner we get away from BEEF

Quote from Fireplace:

And, of course, both gorillas and elephants have the exact same digestive systems as humans do right?

LOL

:p

You argue that plants contain insufficient protein to build muscle mass. I proved you wrong with example of the great mass of the gorilla and elephant built from plant protein only. Obviously you are wrong, plants do contain enough protein, and vegetarian athletes are further proof that they do and that humans can metabolize it.

Your argument is silly like you :D

Quote from ShoeshineBoy:

Well, practically speaking, the only plant-based protein powder available is soy and I would be very cautious of that if you are a male. Soy is tied to brain shrinkage and other problems for males. Better to wait about 20 years and see what the research turns up than to risk your precious grey matter. In general, phytoestrogens are very hard on the male body and soy is full of them.

There is pea protein as a vegetarian source of processed protein.

Quote from killthesunshine:

Why do we need animal protein to build muscle. A gorilla, an elephant is composed of far more muscle mass than any human all built exclusively from plant protein.

:D

Gorillas also eat poop.

I wasn't the one making that argument (muscle mass), that was someone else.

I was just making fun of your response which makes the "incorrect" assumption that all humans have the very same digestive systems as both elephants and gorillas. The easiest way to discredit an argument is to attack the arguments assumption on which both the evidence and conclusion rely.

Don't you know anything?

:p

Well, okay, and there is hemp protein, but both of these are poorly studied compared to soy and whey for example. Proteins and aminos have quite a profound effect on the body. Personally, I wouldn't use those until some more is known about them...

so it is YOU that is implying that humans can't utilize the protein found in plants. Consider yourself discredited :D

I didn't say they can't utilize it at all, but it's foolish to make statements that because two completely different species can, it somehow follows, that we MUST be able to as well.

Yes, but how many pounds of food do gorilla's and elephant's eat each day? Human's can't eat that much! And if gorilla's eat poop it's probably because they aren't getting enough protein from their vege food. :D
