The reason why Christianity seems so unrealistic and naive

"limited senses is all we have to work with"

If that were true, then science would never have achieved what it has achieved...

Quote from killthesunshine:

right!

limited senses is all we have to work with, and limited can NEVE comprehend the UNLIMITED agreed?

so, occupy your time with RELATIONSHIPS that CAN be grasp by your limited sense.. in THIS space/time speculate about the rest but expect your IMAGINATION to be WRONG more than correct..we on SAME page now?! terrific!
:D

Quote from OPTIONAL777:

Senses alone perceive the sun revolving around the earth...

but "our" limited sense (in form of sience) has PROVEN otherwise, right?

not sure where this leads but i'm interested

Our senses are limited, our ideas are not...

we should TEST our ideas for validity against our "senses" should we not?

shouldn't our thoughts be tested against the real world?

We have never tested abstract ideas against our senses...it is not possible.

Understanding the concept of infinity is not possible through the senses.

Sorry, but you are not going deep enough into this to have any awakening.

Sense have their place, what is true on that level, is true on that level.

Just as the senses tell us that physical objects are solid, quantum mechanics tells us that objects are not solid at all...

There are different truths at different levels of physical reality, and there are different truths at different levels of conceptual reality.

For a Newtonian to say that classical gravitational theory is the right way to look at things, is denying a deeper reality. The deeper reality doesn't make Newtonian physics wrong...just right for that limited scope.

A two dimensional object is true, but so is a three dimensional object...but from the point of view of only two dimensions a third dimension which is not known on that level is not true.

If you want to limit knowledge to the senses, that is your choice...but that is limited knowledge that would not have advanced science all that much.

No, something deeper advances science and understanding, but it remains limited to the scope of the thinking and instrumentation...

If that is satisfactory for you, cool...

However, for you to think your view is superior...is classical vanity.

agreed. so it is fun to speculate against infinity but we should not rely on our conclusions where we exceed our ability to understand?

right! quantum mechanics tell us this, and "quantum mechanics" is science from our LIMITED senses is it not? God didn't tell you science did.

There are different truths at different levels of physical reality, and there are different truths at different levels of conceptual reality.

how do you know this with your limited sense?

For a Newtonian to say that classical gravitational theory is the right way to look at things, is denying a deeper reality. The deeper reality doesn't make Newtonian physics wrong...just right for that limited scope.

newtonian physics, a product of man's "limited sense" (as you put it) has been VERY useful to mankind's knowledge, has it not?

A two dimensional object is true, but so is a three dimensional object...but from the point of view of only two dimensions a third dimension which is not known on that level is not true.

how many dimensions do you get from that bottle of scotch :D

If you want to limit knowledge to the senses, that is your choice...but that is limited knowledge that would not have advanced science all that much.

are OUR senses unlimited or are they not, make up your so called mind. can the limited comprehend unlimited GOD, or not make up your "mind" haha

No, something deeper advances science and understanding, but it remains limited to the scope of the thinking and instrumentation...

If that is satisfactory for you, cool...

your belief in smthg MUCH MUCH greater above & beyond your admitted understanding is the pinnacle of VANITY, ARROGANCE and complete IDIOCY. congratulations, you are nothing more than mr average haha :D

Limited and conditional proofs reach only limited and conditional truths...

You claim that there is nothing but the limited known through and to be tested by the senses...but your argument is fully circular in nature. Fully. You are using limited senses to make an argument for relying on limited senses to establish Truth...

Yes yes! Indeed...if it's your intention to decieve yourself.

shouldn't our thoughts be tested against the real world?

Better to have a true thought, and then test every other thought against it, including the thoughts that have already taken form as "the real world".
