We are not shutting down the entire country right now. At least 7 states have no lockdown.

I provided proof that cities/towns/regions had lockdowns for both the 1918 flu and for polio in the 1940s/1950s. Feel free to go read the information again in detail. In fact the 1918 flu information went city-by-city with details of the lockdown requirements with start/stop dates.

I always stated the facts exactly. If you want to quibble over the definition of EVERYONE than that's your issue.
You claims that they merely closed theaters and pools during the polio epidemic are absurd. The articles described the closure of roads in/out of towns, the schools being closed, and everyone except for essential workers staying at home -- all with phased re-openings. All of this should sound very familiar today.

The articles about the 1918 flu described the measures enacted in each city with start/stop dates. Feel free to go read them.

I am not going to provide the quotes and links over and over and over again. Go do a search and find the past postings yourself.

I never stated there was a nationwide quarantine. We don't have a nationwide quarantine today. Why do you keep insisting that we currently have a nationwide quarantine today when this is not true? There are at least 7 states with no lockdown at all.

Today we have lockdowns of limited things to limited geographies. All at different stages of the cycle. All of it is led by states and localities (same as in 1918 & 1940s/1950s) and not imposed by the federal government. Today is no different than these earlier times in terms of policy response.

And yes... your local bar/restaurant is more risky than your grocery store. Your local hair salon is more risky than your grocery store.

Partying with 200+ people in the street while ignoring state regulations is certainly more risky than going to the grocery store.

Other than the local hair salon you mentioned the risk is pretty much the same. Skin to skin contact is high risk. Me in a grocery store is no less risky than me in a restaurant. People are in close proximity in both places, strangers are touching things that then other people touch. If it doesn't involve skin to skin contact the risk is all the same. Risk doesn't just magically go away or even become reduced just because some wanna be King says so, or deems one activity as essential and another not.

No, I'm stating the undisputed fact that reducing your exposure time to places where COVID may linger reduces chances of catching the bug
