The Path to Recovery: How to Re-Open America

Anecdotal B.S. once again. I’ve been out every day, people are out and about exercising, kids riding bikes, people having cocktails while they wait for take-out. Some with masks. Some a-hole in the passenger seat of a Mercedes driving by asked where my mask was and I pointed to my crotch....Nobody’s staying in anymore. Time to open up.

I see the same thing. I wonder how the new normal will be for restaurants, movie theaters etc. I don’t they survive this all to well.

California faced with a $54 billion deficit and that is just for starters. Governor Gavin Newsom's slow open BS will cost more jobs. I wonder how the Democrat governors collusion is coming along? Looks like a huge success destroying their states economies. If California is in such a big mess, what more Nevada, Oregon, Washington State, Michigan, New Jersey where they are slow walking their own openings? New York should open last because Andrew Cuomo has not done enough to control the Corona Virus in his state. Of course, it is not going to matter then.
Let us see which Democrat governor will destroy his state the most economically?

People are allowed to go out for walks and exercise and wait for take out so I don't see anything new in that and I also see that on weekends when people are tired of cooking.

But will parents or people in contact with high risk people send their kids to camp with 300 kids or get on a place to travel to DisneyWorld or another spot for vacation or go to a crowded restaurant?

That is the part I am not sure about because we will open with Corona still out there, we just have to open with precautions but when it comes to crowds, hygiene is never a priority or easy to track.

States are announcing plans to open up in the next week and I think the focus being on pleasure services is wrong. Plants, factories, rest of hospitals and corporate settings first before we take 150 people and jam them into a bar/restauarant next week.

I’m all for soft opening, the way Disneyland and cruises have evolved I wouldn’t care if they never open. Hopefully people will use good judgment.

Why does Cooper care about federal guidelines? State Kings and Queens, I mean governors set their own guidelines for shutting down, why can't they set them for opening up? This isn't even important today as states are in fact opening up. What is important today is what are the guidelines for staying open? When, not if, but when levels of infection and deaths go up just what exactly is to be done? Do we immediately shutdown everything? Do we impose a more lenient policy? What is an acceptable rise in cases, an exact number, and why was that specific number chosen? We need crystal clear guidelines for staying open and to my knowledge there are none. Why? A cynical person might think it's because they want to play fast and loose with the numbers and be able to magnify and exaggerate every little increase no matter how small.
