The Pabst Doctrine

Libs luv to criticize the intelligence level of Americans-Obama's bitter comments say it all-but I find most folks are functional smart but just misinformed. It's not their fault. If I did nothing other than read Paul Krugman's take I'd be a foaming at the mouth idiot as well.

The American people as a whole are stupid.

Poll: 70% believe Saddam, 9-11 link
WASHINGTON (AP) — Nearly seven in 10 Americans believe it is likely that ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein was personally involved in the Sept. 11 attacks, says a poll out almost two years after the terrorists' strike against this country.

Sixty-nine percent in a Washington Post poll published Saturday said they believe it is likely the Iraqi leader was personally involved in the attacks carried out by al-Qaeda. A majority of Democrats, Republicans and independents believe it's likely Saddam was involved.

The belief in the connection persists even though there has been no proof of a link between the two.

President Bush and members of his administration suggested a link between the two in the months before the war in Iraq. Claims of possible links have never been proven, however.

Bush: No Iraq link to 9/11 found
President says Saddam had ties to al-Qaida, but apparently not to attacks

WASHINGTON -- President Bush, having repeatedly linked Saddam Hussein to the terrorist organization behind the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, said yesterday there is no evidence that the deposed Iraqi leader had a hand in those attacks, in contrast to the belief of most Americans.

Rumsfeld sees no link between Saddam Hussein, 9/11
WASHINGTON (AP) — Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said Tuesday he had no reason to believe that Iraq's Saddam Hussein had a hand in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.

It's been a long time coming: the Senate Intelligence Committee's report on what intelligence America's spy agencies were providing the White House and what the Bush administration did with it.

The delay is not with the report's authors, but the Republican majority on the committee. Finally, two Republican senators, Olympia Snowe of Maine and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, broke ranks and voted with the Democrats to release the findings.

When you read the report you can understand why some wanted to suppress the information.

To begin with, the report says there never was any connection established between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda, and that the CIA and other agencies reported that almost immediately after 9/11. Yet the Bush administration frequently used the supposed link as a reason to attack Iraq.

Pick a "rough patch." Anyone you like. I'll probably be able to give you the skinny on what every major global index, credit market and currency was doing.
Quote from BlindLemonBoosh:

Are you asserting that there have been no rough patches in 'recent years'?

It suffices to say that you are being disingenuous here. You proffered an invalid comparison between a negative systemic shock and a long term uptrend. That doesn't work. You've shown yourself to be a serious student of the markets. Don't get lazy on me now.

I can't respond here except to note your tendency to go off on unrelated tangents. Nobody has attempted to make a case for tick by tick inter-market correlations. Lapses into fantasy don't serve to strengthen your argument.

There have been a number of studies done on market correlations which indicate increased international correlation during periods in which the US has experienced highly volatile negative returns. While your demonstration would be impressive in its own right, it wouldn't add anything to the established knowledge base for this topic. It may have far greater value in picking up a brainy young lass at the local pub. Use it wisely & in good health.

no, but better off than following the likes of Franken, Obama, Clinton, Gore, etc.

I have listened to all, and found Limbaugh to be the more politically useful and insightful. For every stupid thing Limbaugh says, I can find even more stupidity from the left. Dragging up anecdotes is pointless.
