The Opening Orders Thread

2 long, a win and a loss, scratch.

Put JPM in the penalty box for today.

Enjoy the weekend, all. And enjoy the fact that it will be the last weekend you will have to do without Steelers football. They open up the preseason in the Hall of Fame Game a week from Sunday.

There seems to be a lot of discretion on these OO. I assume it's a mean-reverting system? Price hits a vol-band and you trade against it? I wouldn't ask, but there is no mention of methodology in the opening pages of the thread.

basically yes...

a stock opens out of whack with the rest of its peers and then revert...hopefully...back to the group

whether that group is an index, industry group or a related industry...

but a lot of feel is used in exiting and choosing which stocks to employ...

You've got to do some searching on this site. This thread is about the 6th iteration and has been going on since the fall of 2001. The strategy and it's subtleties have been explained numerous times.

This was my second best week of the year for openings, up about 10k.

Would anyone be willing to record their screenshot during the opening orders setup and trading. It would be great to see it actually performed vice reading about it. There are plenty of free software downloads that allow you to record everything you see on the computer monitor. Just throwing it out there...
