The Opening Orders Thread

Nope. I've contributed enough on this topic already and given you plenty to consider. You either believe me or you don't but I'm not sharing my fills or pulls for the day. Sorry.
OK. But you have to remember something, I understood this system about six years ago and was the first to explain on ET on Dons thread #1. I am not looking for anything. All I am looking to add is intergrity to this thread.

I don't get it. What value does +115, 5 fills blah blah blah mean to anyone?

This would mean something to someone:

Filter list:
BA
IBM

Fill list:
+CAT fiilled 92.50 exit 92.60 + .10 on 2K
-WMT filled 45.76 exit 45.90 - .14 on 2k

Well, it is Don's thread so I guess he's the man you need to address this to. I rarely make the +115, 5 fills blah blah blah posts. I just try to contribute when appropriate.

Don has always preached pulling news stocks, FWIW. How one defines "news" is open to argument.

Shreddog is the real deal. We've shared news lists in the past, so I can personally confirm he's a master at this. Listen and learn!

Agreed. Shreddog and Corey are the best OPG traders I know. Meanwhile, others simply excel at increasing their post counts.

Keep up the great work Shreddog, and thanks for the info.

I found another explanation that I think may have come after mine. Scroll down to mike_s explanation:

http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3334&perpage=6&pagenumber=15

Note how in the older OO threads, it seemed like the style was far more open about stocks. Although the filter list is almost never to be seen. Probably just laziness...

Maybe news didn't matter back then. I can only tell you that news is important to me these days. If for no other reason than I don't need the additional stress on the open I try to avoid them.

Thanks for the props guys, I had no idea I had so many fans.

You have got to learn to think outside the box a little here.
It's called trading.....the basic strategy is simple, but there are many different variations you can employ. What works for one trader, might not work for another. What worked 5 years ago, might not work today. To employ this strategy, or any stratey, it requires you to be flexible, to notice what's working, what isn't working, make the necessary adjustments and refinements to your strategy, and then move forward.

IME, some just never "get" it. I am certain there are many more former OO traders then there are current OO traders, so keep that in mind. This is not a holy grail, a money machine, etc. This strategy gets you in with a bit of an edge, getting out and being profitable requires one to know how to trade, manage positions, and think quickly and react appropriately when under fire. For some, their time and effort might be better spent going for other opportunities that occur around the same time.
