The Obamacare debacle

Quote from gwb-trading:

Note: Starbucks is not a franchise operation.

I will give the CEO credit for having integrity and living up to having responsibility for his employees.

Starbucks pays about $8.50 an hour on average. Yet they continue to produce record profits.

Is that what you call having responsibility for his employees?

How many other food operations have full benefits and keep the majority of their employees full time?

Yes, $8.50 an hour is what food retail pays - but most other companies do not provide benefits and have their employees work part time.

Amazing what you can do when you charge 5$ for something that costs less than a penny to make. :D

In all seriousness, the reason they wont cut benefits is only because it would damage their brand among all those fruit cake left wing latte sipping homos, they will probably just raise the cost of a cup of coffee to six bucks so that the anti establishment hipsters can continue going down there and talking about how much they hate corporations while they pay a 6000% markup on a cup of coffee.

Don't worry, those hipsters aren't worried about the price of coffee being raised. They can just use their EBT card to buy coffee.

it could also all be public relations b.s. as the ceo gets read to dump shares in front of the obamacare earnings threat.

trusting info from ceos is one of the anti edges for investors.

Best cup of coffee ive ever had was a plain jane cup of coffee at tim hortons in canada with a couple creams in it, they charge like a buck.

It blows my mind that these companies like starbucks and aapl are able to put the screws to these hipsters who are all too happy to pay 3-4 times the price to the companies who screw them the worst.

And for what? Starbucks aint paying bean farmers in south america ten bucks an hour, and aapl sure as hell isnt paying anyone in china anymore to make their products.

You'd all be singing Starbucks' praises if the CEO was going to cut.

Pathetic.

blah blah, i don't blame companies for doing whatever they legally can to make money, I just hate starbucks, and coffee in general. the irony contained in max's post was funny though and the only reason for my comment.

Show me one exampe where i sang the praises of a company for cutting peoples wages and healthcare.

Criticising obama because his policies are forcing companies to cut insurance/hours is not the same as praising them for doing so, it is merely pointing out reality, a reality that those on the left refused to accept, as they promised everyone that these companies were simply going to take it on the chin with no reprecussions as obamacare was implemented.

I'm a bit confused as well, a few threads below, Stararaboucks, as I've heard the name pronounced in China (years back but it stuck ), appeared a favourite of conservative gun owners, some who might be dissing it in this obamacare related thread.
