The National Football League: 2009 edition

I see what you're saying but I already took Indy because I think the line is going to move against me if I wait (it was a pickem). Suggs is probably out, and Indy has owned the Ravens for a long time now. The Ravens had a pretty good team last year that made it to the AFC Championship game and the Colts took it to them 31-3 in week 6. Indy scored 44 points against them the year before and Manning is 6-0 against the Ravens in their last 6 meetings. I'm amazed the Ravens were a favorite at any point.

I fully agree with the call on INDY, baltimore took advantage of some shit teams and has been mediocre at best when playing aganist half decent teams, the media thought they were gonna be the best in the league at the start of the year because their offense did so well, but everyone forgot the leader of the defense (after Ray Lewis) was Rex Ryan, plus they lost bart Scott. The Baltimore Defense has been Total shit so far this year.

I am also tempted to bet against the Steelers, the numbers with Polamalu gone are staggering, and it was evident against the Bengals. The thing is that for the most part people pay attention to interceptions with his position, but he is definately the best guy on the defense in the NFL today at anticipating and breaking up plays, both run and pass, there has been to many times to count over the past three years where he comes up and stops a 20 yard run by anticipating a play, people give Woodley and Harrison too much credit. I am just thankful we got the Chiefs next which should be easy so that he can rest up hopefully. It is still possible he needs surgery on that knee though.

Your words ring true. The defense is just lost without him even though they played well. He's not only a playmaker, he makes those plays in absolutely critical situations. His field sense is off the charts... he IS The One.

The offense looked to be in a haze from the get go. I think they're starting to believe the press articles about them being the new pass happy Steelers... the football gods chortled. You've got a beast of a back in Mendy, and you go pass happy. I've been waiting for a back like him for years, I never thought Parker was a good fit. The Steelers are a running/defensive team first, that eventually beats you with a downfield pass attack. They have the best balance right now. I guarantee you, everyone's gonna get a healthy dose of Mendy from now on... they're not gonna give up on the run so easily anymore. Tomlin is smarter than that.

But the Polamalu thing remains a BIG issue.

I'm stuck in the NFC central, which would be cool, If We Still Had Favre..

Colts are the team of destiny, Pats, Steelers are also-rans this year.

Dream Superbowl matchup... Favre vs Manning

Manning wins. Favre has too many skeletons in his closet.

You know what is funny, 2 years ago when Willie parker lead the league in terms of Rushing yards before he broke his femur, i said to all my buddies, "They need a new back, Parker will not last," Everyone and their Dog laughed at me, but i knew the difference between a breakout runner, and a bust the gut type of guy, they just need a runner who can bust the gut for 3-4 yards, and run the clock when it is crucial, Mendenhall seems like that type of guy, but he is still (relatively) small, what they need right now is an Alstott/BETTIS type guy... They would be Lethal with a power back again.....

No way this gets old...

I agree with you, and I don't think it's a bad bet at all . I thought the line would go to pick'em and you're right, it could go more toward Indy. The thing that bothers me is how Indy has slid by the last three weeks. Not dominant at all, now they are on the road.

I had a tough week as well, 1-5, this put me to 21-17 on the season, my only salvation was Arizona, and Seattle outplayed them for the most part.....

WTF does this have to do with anything on this thread??? I am almost positive that out of the thousands of games picked on this thread not 1 person ever took Buffalo to beat the spread........

What does T.O. have to do with the NFL?

Gimme a break...
