You know what is funny, 2 years ago when Willie parker lead the league in terms of Rushing yards before he broke his femur, i said to all my buddies, "They need a new back, Parker will not last," Everyone and their Dog laughed at me, but i knew the difference between a breakout runner, and a bust the gut type of guy, they just need a runner who can bust the gut for 3-4 yards, and run the clock when it is crucial, Mendenhall seems like that type of guy, but he is still (relatively) small, what they need right now is an Alstott/BETTIS type guy... They would be Lethal with a power back again.....

Didn't you pick the Colts to go all the way? If you're gonna spout off, at least give some reasons behind your pick. Gosh.
Omega,
Thanks. I think the only piece of the puzzle left for the Steelers is to acquire a big bruising back. As much as Parker has done, he's light between the tackles and this bothers me. If the line knows that all they have to do is give a crease and the back will get the rest, they'll get that crease. As evidenced by all the failed 4th and 1's this season, we don't have that back. Remember when we had Bam Morris AND Barry Foster? Neither was a break-away back but boy would they pile on the yards in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Defenses wanted nothing to do with them. This, IMHO, would be the final piece.
I almost took Carolina to cover at home because of Brown, but all the talk of Carolina's injuries at RB scared me off. Good thing.Quote from AAAintheBeltway:
Miami at Carolina(-03) tonight. I am kind of surprised this game didn't go off the board or at least have a sizeable line change. Miami's top Rb and the guy who makes the wildcat go, Ronnie Brown, is done for the season. That puts a big question markover thei roffense. Will Ricky Williams take his place? Will Pat White? Can either run it like Brown did, and who takes Brown's place as the motion back? Obviously, thi shurts Miami but it also puts a lot of stress on the Carolina defense. They already had a short week to prepare, now they are in unknown territory.
Carolina has its own injury issues, as both its top RBs are dinged and may not play. Since the Panthers are pretty much a run only team, this could be a huge blow to them. They have run for 1000 yards the past three games, and Delhomme has not turned the ball over. Probably either Williams or Stewart will do what it takes and play.
It should be interesting to see how this all plays out, and the one certainty is it can't possibly be as bad as last week's chicago at Sf game.

Oh, wait. Just realized I'm talking to a Steelers fan. You probably won't have the strength to talk football for at least a week or so.![]()
