Those 87,000+ new agents? Sounds real scary- until you learn that's 87,000 OVER TEN YEARS- new hires, 51,000 of which are to replace expected retirements. That means a grand total of 36,000 actual new hires, or about 3,600 per year. Given a growing population and the department's chronic understaffing- doesn't sound so scary now, does it. But as usual- GOP fear mongering rules the day...Biden's "Inflation Reduction Act" hires 87,000 new IRS agents, including 70,000 armed agents, nearly doubling the size of the agency

Nice,it is.But in 2020 blacks wanted police reform. Millions marched across the country for it.Biden promised them police reform,he said he was with them ,he felt thier pain and it would be top priority. He never told them he planned to give 32 billion to police for new equipment and to hire 100,000 new cops with no police reform attached(What could go wrong there?)
That has got to be the biggest stab in the back to black voters I have ever seen. The fact that Biden's approval rating with blacks is 30-40 points below Obamas and Bill Clinton's shows what he can expect from that betrayal in 2024.
Progressives say that Obama didn't fight hard for it, it was dropped at first opposition to the bill and Romneycare was adopted.
Garland’s announcement comes as the Biden administration is seeking ways to speed up and expand efforts to reform policing. The Justice Department has launched sweeping federal investigations into police departments in Minneapolis, Louisville and Phoenix, but those probes require extensive resources and take up to 18 months to complete.
Police reform experts said the collaborative reform program could help local police improve their relationship with the community, while avoiding the legally onerous and costly court-approved consent decrees that have punctuated federal intervention in other jurisdictions.

Over the past few years—even decades—the Justice Department has tried to implement police reforms in cities from Miami to Los Angeles. Under the tenure of Attorney General Eric Holder, the DOJ charged more than 400 law enforcement officials and corrections officers for violating constitutional rights.
While these are important steps, a new investigation from The Marshall Project finds that many of these reforms don't have a lasting effect. In some cases, very few changes are made.
